Coming from someone who did Gel X extensions previously, polygel is a pretty easy medium to use! Obviously there is a learning curve involved so there were some hiccups the first time I used it. One challenge I had with this was (and this may be obvious, but for some reason I didn't know this?) if you make the polygel a /little/ too thin it's more prone to breaking. The good thing about polygel is that it's very forgiving in terms of rebuilding the extension, so I just fixed those up in less than an hour and made them thicker and created a thicker apex as well. My advice is that even though the nail is already giving you the smooth nail shape, I'd make sure the undersides are flush against your natural nail and that there are no gaps, as well as making sure the apex is thick enough! ... show more

I've never done my own acrylic or polygel, after reading tons of reviews I settled on this kit. I already had a curing lamp so this was perfect. I had no problems with the slip solution, you literally barely dab the brush into it. Took me a few hrs, but im sure speed will get better with more experience. I pray they last at least 2 weeks, but they feel strong just like acrylic. Definitely do your nail prep and if you do everything as instructed you should have no problems. I did paint over mine bc the pink was very clear and looked funny over my shorter natural nail. Looking forward to saving money and trying other colors. ... show more

These looked lovely when i was done, and worked well enough, but being a beginner i had trouble making sure they didn't get too thick. Even so, they felt nice on the nail and didn't pull or feel unnatural in any other way.

I normally use Gelish but I wanted to try Beetles because of the amount of colors and types available and of course because of the economical price. I really wanted to love it. However, I did a trial run on just two nails to make sure I wouldn’t have any sort of negative reaction (PLEASE find reviews about these reactions—it’s very scary). Granted, I wasn’t using a dust collector and I should have been but I never use one with Gelish. The SMELL of this was pungent, odd and STRONG right out of the box. I’m not new to gel polish. I’ve used it since it came out years and years ago and have used pretty much all of the salon brands. But the smell with this one nothing I had ever experienced. It was from another world and not in a good way. I went ahead and did my two trial nails hoping that the smell would dissipate after I finished them. The nails came out well and I was happy with the performance of the products. But the smell did not lessen whatsoever. My Dyson air filter started reporting my air quality as “severe” for chemical levels. It had gotten late so I went to bed despite my concern about the continued strong smell. The next morning, the smell had permeated my entire home (around 2500 square feet) including every textile that is in use in my home (bedding, throw blankets, clothes, etc.). My Dyson and Guardian air filters are both still screaming at me warning me of high levels of chemicals present in the air. Fortunately, I live in a warm climate where the temperature today is a mild 68 degrees and there’s a strong ocean breeze. I’ve had to open every window and door and turn on all ceiling fans and stand alone fans as well as every air purifier I own. It’s worth mentioning that my HVAC system is only four years old and has a top of the line filtration system to include two different types of UV lamps so I also have it running on high. I’m having to do everything and anything to try and get this smell to go away. Today I will have to spend the day washing every textile that’s been exposed and dusting and vacuuming every surface and item that exists in my home. I also have a sore throat, a headache that won’t quit and I’m coughing a lot. My two dogs are coughing, too. Needless to say I removed the two trial nails and polish as fast as I possibly could. Despite washing my hands over and over I can’t get the smell off them, either. This is crazy and it’s probably dangerous!! Please save yourself the trouble, save your lungs, and save your home by NOT purchasing any Beetles products. It’s just not worth it. ... show more

First off I do want to mention that I have been using builder gel and tips or false nails for the longest time. So I do have some practice with using both hands to apply the dual forms (the clip that comes with the kit is useful) Additionally, I’ve had a lot of practice painting nail tips after applying them however, I am absolutely not an expert. I came across poly gel when looking at the Beatles brand for new colors. Overall, the product was super easy to use the slip solution made being able to mold the nail easy in the duel form. The second photo of my nails without any polish was the first set with the poly gel. I did not use enough product in the top of the nails snapped off. On the second set that’s painted brown, I used more product, about twice as much. It’s better to use more product as you can easily wipe it off and set it to the side to use for the next nail. The curing time was accurate 120 seconds was perfect. The dual forms if you use too much product will be hard to pop off. I would advise to avoid getting the poly gel on the edges of the dual form to prevent that from happening. I also have pure acetone that I will dip a small, thin brush in to remove any excess polish after removing the duel, forms and filing the nail. I would highly recommend investing in a nail drill. I got one for about $16 from Amazon. Ensuring that your cuticles and nail beds are cleaned and filed correctly ensures the nails to stay on for as long as possible. If you’re someone that has a basic knowledge of nail techniques, this is a great product to have and I think poly gel is a great investment versus spending the money out of salon for a full set. I will note that the first time I made the first set it took me about an hour the second time the set that I painted brown took me about 3 1/2 hours, due to having to remove the previous set and going slower to ensure product was distributed correctly on each section of the dual form, so the nail does not break. ... show more
