Initially I thought, how can a topper be thick yet provide a firm sleeping platform which I want. Amazingly this topper is noticeably cooler and does give you a firm comfortable sleeping surface. Also it is designed with extra material around its perimeter to allow a proper fit no matter how thick your mattress so installing it is easy. Great product and a satisfying purchase. At first glance, this is wonderful! It comes vacuum sealed, so those complaining about its lack of density, just toss it in the dryer for 5 minutes then lay it out on the bed (same as you're told with the bamboo and foam particle pillows). It fluffs up perfectly and is SO comfy. Immediately took away the shoulder and hip pain from an extra firm mattress the first night, without losing the firmness of the bed I need for my back. It didn't have any of the weird packaging smells I expected, but that could be from tossing it in the dryer. Now for the Downside: The description says washable. DO NOT WASH IT. Get a mattress protector to go on top of it! I made sure to not stuff it in my home washer because of it's size. I went to a cleaner and washed it in the extra large professional machine and same with dryer. Cal-King size wouldn't have fit in my washer anyway. As soon as it was dry, I brought it home and all the stuffing bunches up. Each "pod" is now a clumpy mess, and the edging is empty every six inches. Absolute waste of $120. So, if you put a protector over this, You will love it. It's insanely comfortable BEFORE you wash it. Just make sure to fluff it up out of the box. But, for the love of bamboo, Do Not Wash It! You will have a clumpy mess to put back on your bed. The description of washable is false! ... show more
