I bought the king size 2 inch memory foam. It came packaged nicely in a zippered Serta bag. As all memory foam products are, it was highly compressed and tightly wrapped in plastic and looked way too small. After unwrapping and gently unfolding as much as possible I laid it on the bed to do its thing. Within 2 hours it had completely expanded and come to its full king size. Contrary to what some other reviewers have said I noted absolutely no odor. In fact, I immediately made up the bed and have been sleeping in it ever since. I can’t comment on the cooling effect because I bought it to put inside my older sleep number mattress to bulk it up. It has good firmness with the typical qualities of a memory foam. I’m very happy with it. I feel it’s going to extend the life of my sleep number even further as I’d already replaced the inner foam mattress pad on that. I have back issues and it has improved my sleep quality. It was a very good value for the price and I’m glad I got it. I would purchase it again and highly recommend. This is my review after 24 hours: the quality is great. This topper feels much more dense than my last one (which I think was Zinus brand). The topper "inflated" very quickly. I was able to sleep on it about 6 hours after I opened it. It feels very supportive - just the right amount of firm and softness. It contours very well to the body. I didn't find the smell to be that strong or unpleasant and I have a pretty sensitive nose. I just kept the window open in the room while it inflated. The best compliment I can give is that I no longer feel the hole in my mattress! As I replaced my old mattress topper with this one I discovered a hole my cat created Wolverine style that went straight through the mattress. I was debating about getting a new mattress but since I might move soon I took the advice of my friend and just duct taped the hole and put the topper over it. (I also put on a bamboo mattress protector to hold it in place and protect everything, which helps with slipping). It feels like I'm sleeping on a brand new mattress! Needed a mattress cushion as my husband lost so much weight from cancer. I have damaged shoulders from wear and tear. Been sleeping on it for almost a week and it is great. One previous reviewer said it was like getting out of quicksand in the morning. Not a bad description but it cuddles your body in a cocoon and has been a great comfort for joint and body pain. I will add it take’s getting used to when you want to roll and turn position as the cocoon effect holds you in the foam. Sleep hasn’t been too hot or cold as of yet. It's cool initially when laying on it, but I can tell that it does help a little to wick away my bodies heat because it's not as hot as my original mattress without this product. It's sort of supportive of my weight, but not as firm as I would like it to be. There is no smell. Value is good and it fits well and does not slip off like a different pad I purchased. For someone who deals with lower back pain this mattress topper helped a lot. Good quality product. It was lightweight and i was able to easily unwrap it and allow it to form correctly before i put it on my bed. Its recommended you allow 24hrs to allow the topper to form correctly. Once i removed it from the box and got the wrapper off it was ready and on my bed in less then 3 hrs. It holds its form good and doesnt go flat while its being slept on. ... show more

I let it expand for 12 hours, the first night I slept on it was outstanding, and now when I wake up in the morning, I've slept soundly, and don't wake up with lower back pain, or hip fatigue as I'm a side sleeper. I second this original review and loved the cooling feature but can’t take the firmness ->Good quality product but extremely firm for a foam topper, would be excellent if you prefer that type of sleeping surface but definitely not for me. Made me lose feeling in my extremities woke up feeling like I’d been in a car wreck. So if you want a very firm mattress pad this would be excellent for you but if you want a softer option I’d choose something else. ... show more

The topper is very comfortable, but we haven't found that it has the cooling effect as advertised. It's lightweight but is pretty firm and you don't feel your partner move.
