🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The swing set has garnered positive feedback for its quality relative to price, though some caution is advised regarding its long-term durability and size suitability. The cedar wood construction is appreciated for its potential longevity, but the material's softness can lead to splits during assembly. It is well-loved by younger children, with the perfect size for toddlers and usable up to around 6-7 years of age, despite being advertised for up to 10 years old. Regular maintenance, like water sealing, is recommended for preserving its condition.

Pros

  • 👍 Good value for the price, especially when purchased on sale
  • 🛠 Cedar wood construction promising durability
  • 📏 Perfect size for toddlers and young children
  • 🔧 Comes with clear instructions, manageable assembly with the right tools
  • ❤️ Highly appreciated by kids, encouraging outdoor play

Cons

  • ❗ Wood can splinter or split during assembly; soft wood quality
  • ⏳ Regular maintenance (water sealing) required for durability
  • 📐 May not adequately accommodate children as they grow closer to the maximum age limit
  • 👫 Some parts, like the monkey bars, offer limited functionality

Should I Buy It?

If you are looking for a reasonably priced swing set for toddlers to young children, this could be a great investment. However, consider the need for annual maintenance and the swing set's size limitations as your children grow. The pros seem to outweigh the cons for those with younger kids looking to enjoy outdoor playtime.

  • Overall a great little swing set, watch for variations in price
Color: Multicolor Size: Large
I normally don’t do product reviews but know how important they were to me when deciding to spend this much money on a swing set. So, here it goes: We purchased this swing set for about $550 plus tax. We think it is very good quality for that price but would not pay more for it. I saw that it is now about $1,000 and I personally think we would have been disappointed in the quality of the item for that price. My husband and grandpa, both very handy and bearing their own sets of power tools, put this together in about 9 hours. We downloaded the Bilt app, but found the written instructions to be more than sufficient. You need power tools and a few other tools to put this together, so keep that in mind when purchasing. When it is finished, it looks exactly like it is advertised. It is the absolute perfect size for our two year old son, and we foresee him getting about 4 more years of play out of it. It is advertised for up to age 10, but I personally think 6 or 7 years old is about the cut off for the size. The wood is cedar, which my husband says is a wood that should last over time pretty well. It is a little soft when putting the set together, and they split numerous pieces during assembly. Luckily, it didn’t affect the overall sturdiness of the set because most of the split pieces were more decorative than structural. When putting the set together, there was a time when my husband and I both had to be up in the fort area putting it together and putting the tarp on. The boards held our combined weight but you could hear that they were not happy about it, as they kept creaking and it made me worry a little that we were going to bust it before it was even finished. My son always wants me to climb up in the fort with him to play and I do, but the boards still creak quite a bit, when with just he and I. Another thing to keep in mind is that they recommend water sealing the set once a year. Not a big deal, just an added step in the upkeep of a wood swing set. Overall, my son absolutely ADORES this swing set. When I open the blinds in the morning and he sees the set, he immediately starts begging to go outside. We are extremely happy with our purchase for the price we paid for it. It is the perfect size for our 2 year old and will be used a lot over the next few years. Again, I would watch the price and try to get it for as cheaply as possible. It seems the price ranges greatly and we were able to purchase it for about $550. ... show more

  • This set saved our sanity

We have an only-child and amidst this covid-quarantine time after having moved to a brand new state, this set gave our 6yr old much interactivity. I scoured reviews regarding my concern with her size versus the set..but all has served perfectly. Even though she is 6 (going on 7), she's tall and always mistaken for a grade or two older...and I believe she will still get many more years. There have only been 2 max 6yr olds up top, so I can't speak to how extra durable it may be..just that it's been great for the kids. My 190lb husband was able to sit up there after hopping himself up.. adults just cannot use the stairs..you'll quickly hear the creaking if you try. haha One step did come split, but luckily it was the bottom one, so we didn't fret. However, the manufacturer gave instructions on how to contact them to get replacement pieces, so there's that option. DEFINITELY USE THE BILT APP! (Ty reviewers!) It was fantastic.. clear and concise. You just have to be careful to look at ALL THE HOLES so make sure you're installing it the correct position. I think we were experiencing fatigue towards the end and we didn't pay full attention..screwed a couple pieces in incorrectly. Luckily we were able to turn it all around easily, though. And lay out all the pieces in their piles to expedite the process..you'll need every minute you can spare! With 2 adults, I'd say it did take us around 10hrs to complete. Some people complained about the awning not being wide enough.. that is my opinion, as well..but not a deal breaker at $558.48 +tax. The awning is sufficient enough to cover the table, however. I think we got lucky on the price, bc this set has swings and slide and table and monkey bars and a covered tower (and you can have a sand box).. We're thankful we found it bc there's so much to do! ... show more

  • Not for older kids
Color: Multicolor Size: Large
This is our first review for Amazon. I researched these play sets for months. The prices fluctuated like crazy over the past year. We finally got a decent price so we jumped on it. It was a long wait for it but as soon as we got it we jumped on the project. Only had 1 warped piece and 1 split piece. Many complained of broken wood and we could see how if mishandled that could happen. The company was very prompt and got us the parts within 3 days. The delivery was delayed a day with no notice from the delivery company. BE ORGANIZED! We organized all the parts and the screws and bolts. There is a lot! But having them all lined up helped a lot. We started it in our garage and moved it outside before the roof went on. You should plan on a day of staining all the pieces as well. A light sanding before and maybe after staining is a good idea as well. Do this before you assemble. My hubby and I are pretty handy so it wasn’t too difficult to assemble. We did it in small amounts of time over about 4 days. So probably 10 hours overall. I’d gather and assemble the screws and bolts and nuts and he’d actually put the pieces together. The quality is ok. Our grandkids are young so this works. We can’t imagine an 8 year old on this. It is just too small. The monkey bar part is stupid. Three rungs with no where to go. It just goes to the side of the top of the fort. Maybe the kids will learn to bring their legs over the railing of the top but who knows. I read a review regarding the top of the slide having bolts and there are some bolts. We waited to see if the kids said anything and they did not. We talked about putting a foam pad over the bolt caps or maybe even just some tape. We will see what works if needed. Overall it’s ok. Kind of cheap wood pieces. The price is ok for what you get. We thought of doing our own but cost wise this was better. One year update- showing some faded spots and splintering on the wood. Tarp for over fort area already has some rips. The monkey bars make no sense for this unit. 3 rungs to no where but dropping down. We’ve got 2 two-year-olds and a 5-year-old that this is fine for. A bit challenging and fun. But can’t see them - especially the boys- enjoying this past 7 or 8 years old. Just too small and bonking their heads. Hope this helps make a wise decision. ... show more
