Description

AvoSeedo is a small plastic bowl that features an indentation with a hole in it. A single avocado seed can be inserted with the flat end facing down. Afterwards; AvoSeedo can be placed in a sufficiently large; water-filled pot. Due to its low weight and high displacement; AvoSeedo will remain at the surface all the time; as the water level lowers; AvoSeedo will sink accordingly. With AvoSeedo; you can significantly raise the success rate when it comes to avocado germination. Without any risk; you can decrease the watering intervals drastically. Only from time to time you will have to check the water level of the pot containing AvoSeedo plus avocado seed. Compared to the original toothpick method; there's another advantage: the avocado seed doesn't need to be perforated; reducing the risk of damage (and thus; failed germination efforts). And finally; AvoSeedo features a mounting that can be used to attach small flags. These can be inscribed with the date when germination started; with strain names or with additional information. Thus; you can easily keep track; even when germinating several avocado seeds at the same time.

  • SS Avocado
Color: Green
The AvoSeedo gives even the neophyte gardener a green thumb. The concept is ridiculously easy – even easier than the DIY method of toothpicks and a glass. Both methods work – and we’ve done both – but this one is a more colorful (select the color of your AvoSeedo “boat”) charming (the flag is fun and the avocado-shaped “boat” is, too), and effective (as the water evaporates between changing, the AvoSeedo simply floats down to that level; toothpicks stay stationary on the container’s rim. Also, you can grow multiple pits with this method engaging more users.) The step-by-step, illustrated booklet, three flags (see pic), and markers give gardeners of any age the opportunity to get their hands dirty with this water-based growing method. It took a month for the pit to split, and another 2 months for roots to sprout (we started this in January in Boston!), but once it did, the root grew like crazy. Just now, 5 months in, the tree is finally growing out of the top of the seed. We got on AvoSeedo’s website for transplanting instructions. It’s been an exciting process to watch and makes us appreciate the time and care required for things to grow properly. It's a great lesson to impart to young children. AvoSeedo’s method can be used as a lesson in homeschooling programs but is low-key enough to be enjoyed by the casual gardening enthusiast. That flexibility to grow your engagement with this tool is one of the many reasons it’s a 5-star purchase. ... show more

  • It works!
Color: Green
I have a few of these and they really work! I have grown several avocado trees from an avocado using this cool gadget. It is super easy to use and well worth it. It's fun too. Even my kids love it. Great to watch every day the growth. Highly recommend.

  • A simple invention can still be very deep (require deep, kind logic thought)
Color: Green
Why only 4 stars and not 5? It’s, a great invention and has many VERY ETHICAL applications. It has to do with the packaging. I know the manufacturer stresses placing the trees in pots when they have a sufficient amount of growth and leaves but the box on the one I bought does not say this. It just says put it in water and watch it grow. That reminds me of the unethical brine shrimp that used to be sold and marketed to kids. That ad about the brine shrimp attracted me since it showed that the shrimp looked like some aquatic beings and lived in castles. I was only 3 or 4 and thought that they really looked like that magnified and if they were placed in water they would hatch and be happy and never need me to give them food or any assistance. I found an ancient pack of brine shrimp eggs from several decades prior and asked if I could hatch them. The adult did not have the sense to tell me no, and why I should not, since the shrimp would need to be tended and given nutrients and also they must not reproduce. Fortunately, the ancient shrimp eggs NEVER hatched so I was spared later feeling guilty about that bad decision I made to hatch them. But I worry and hope these are repackaged to stress that the trees will need some tending, a large pot or yard and a plan must be made for them before a ‘pit’ is placed in an Avoseedo ‘boat.’ I also worry that adults around kids may be making bad decisions since obviously their decision-making was flawed if they reproduced. Do not get angry, think with kind logic at this statement I make. There is obviously already over population. There are sadly many congested cities such as New York City or Philadelphia where I lived for over a decade as a small child and saw a bunch of concrete and no yard, and no houses in the areas I lived there, just what were called ‘row homes’ (a long line of attached structures not even fit for prisoners in my opinion,) or ‘townhouses’ (two houses attached physically to one another so they SHARE A WALL. That seems so poverty stricken, that some homeowners (townhouse owners) are forced to share a wall! THIS SITUATION IS A RESULT OF TERRIBLE DECISIONS MADE BY OTHERS TO HAVE KIDS. THINK. If there is a proper kind logic population there would be single houses only and large (over an acre, 5 acres the norm,) yards. Europe also has many attached domiciles, etc. etc. . Now obviously even though the population was not initially planned using kind logic it still should not be reduced. I actually believe we are designed to continue to live and exist. We must never kill. Also, we must be careful not to increase the population. It is easy for men to get vasectomies and the kindest thing for male humans to do. This is a simple in office procedure, a tubal ligation is a big deal in my opinion. The kind logic thing to do if one is male is to have a vasectomy. Save up for that instead of the latest television. Many health insurances cover vasectomy costs. I know I spent so much wasted money in birth control pills and condoms (would use both since I was so conscientious about not reproducing,) boy I wish my spouse would have had a vasectomy. It would have been much cheaper and much, much more comfortable! Believe me I continually improve my ethics and have even become vegetarian for ethical reasons alone. I am assuming that these people that had kids are also improving their decision making processes and that is why I am writing this because it means they can understand and will not be angry at reading this, just thinking very deeply about it and making positive changes such as telling their offspring never to have children and why not, etc. etc. It is this kind of proper kind logic deep thinking that led me to become vegetarian as I did not want to have any part of killing. It is also this kind of thinking that led me to discover THE WONDERFUL AVOSEEDO and to purchase one. (Thanks to Amazon for showing me these.) See, after several years of being vegetarian I got to thinking about root vegetables such as onions and potatoes and worried about the plants being killed for food. I solved my onion dilemma by harvesting onions from my own yard and dehydrating and canning them. I only trim their tops. After doing this, my onions began growing actual bulbs above ground on their tops so I could continue grilling old fashioned onions without harming the onion plant! This is the first year I left some of the above ground onion bulbs on and did not harvest them all since I have so many onions in my yard. To MY AMAZEMENT MY ONIONS NOW GROW SPROUTS OUT OF THEIR BULBS AND GET A STRING OF BULBS ON THEM THAT GET BIGGER AND BIGGER LIKE A BIG GROWING ABOVE GROUND ONION AND CHIVE NECKLACE!!!!! My onions responded to my caring decision not to harm them and are helping me the best they can without harming themselves. This shows how complex they are. I am excited to grow my own hydroponic potatoes since I can trim part of the potato that way and it will just re-grow and the plant will not be harmed. This is how I am using my Avoseedo, to make hydroponic potato boats that I will grow in my yard. The Avoseedo is cute and decorative. I will place my own home made flags on them and I know my hydroponic potatoes will grow fantastic in my pond as I already have water plants in it that do fantastic. Best regards, may we all continually improve. by Julie Sands ... show more

  • Over priced, but I got it as a gift and now I bought one for a friend....
Color: Green
Overpriced, but have successfully grown 6-7 plants. The trees won't produce avocados like the plant I took the seeds from, however, they are a nice ornamental plant around the house and to give as gifts. The device takes a lot of the guesswork out of the whole experience and never gets dull on the window sill. I always suspect that extra small trees will attract more bees and therefore help your store-bought clone tree get fully polinated and produce more fruit!! That is only a theory. I heard if you mist blossoms out on the existing or future trees out in your with some mild sugar water bees might flock to the blossoms and get some nice big crops...... ... show more
