I have a different solar recharging chicken coop door, but it has such a tiny solar panel it stopped getting enough juice to continue operating. This model has a much bigger solar panel, a removable rechargeable (USB-C too!) battery, a “no-pinch” closing mode (upon closing the door, it closes, opens once in case of a chicken getting pinned by the door, then closes once more), an app with wifi connectivity, and a CAMERA! Overall the install was super easy, app setup a breeze, and connectivity impressively solid. The camera is way better quality than I’d need to check on my flock, but I love it! Checking the door status (open/closed) via the app is a big peace of mind thing after losing a few of our girls to raccoons due to the old door not closing. Overall this door is great! ... show more

I like that you can view it from your phone. I have a bunch of very expensive chickens, so I like the feature in addition to the ability to adjust it. It is pretty easy to assemble.

    • It's simple, and it works!

We received this product and installed it. Installation was easy. As we were coop training our girls we didn't want the door to open and close like normal. We wanted it to stay closed for a few days so they would start to think of the coop as home. We took the motor off to remove the batteries to disable it. The motor fell out of the housing and when we tried to reinstall the button broke off. We were pretty upset bc this isn't a cheap door. I reached out to the sellers about a replacement. Here is where they impressed me. I got a response back quickly to my complaint. The requested I send pictures which I did the same day. They again responded quickly to the pictures and said they would be sending a replacement motor within two day. Two days later it came in the mail. I reinstalled it and it works great. My girls quickly realized the coop was home and so we were able to let the door work as normal. They have been going into their coop every night before it closes. I would highly recommend this product and this company. They were quick to handle my issue and take care of me as a customer. ... show more

My wife and I agreed to wait on getting chickens until our kids were not playing every possible sport since we don't have proper time to devote specifically to said chickens. Know that that means? She came home with a dozen chicks anyway. Gah. She and the kids agreed that they would also help with opening the chicken house in the morning and locking everything up at night. Know what that means? I'm the one that has to do both. Gah. This one device takes quite a bit of anxiety from my life, letting me go camping and not have to call in favors to take care of chickens. I love the convenience of this door! We had just finished building the chicken run when we purchased the door. My chickens are young so they had to figure out how to climb the ladder & get inside before dark. The first 2 nights, I had 1 chicken left outside when the door closed. It was pretty comical. The rooster would come out & stand at the top of the ladder & scold the lagging chicken. After that my rooster had the girls rounded up & in for the night before 9. I decided it was closing too late for me, so I programmed it to close at 9:00 pm each night. So easy to program! Worked first time! I left the morning setting to open when it’s light out. This door is amazing. It opens everyday at sunrise and closes at sunset. My girls go in right before it closes but I've had a few stragglers and I just push the button and they go in then I push the button and it closes. I have a problem with raccoons and am impressed that it stays closed until sunrise so I just make sure to get my coffee and get out there before it opens.
