  • Cheapest hi-fi streamer alternative to Sonos or Bluesound
UPDATE: it's been several months and this device works nearly flawlessly. Worst complaint is that it occasionally lags on streaming, but that's probably more about my internet strength. It never has trouble connecting to the net or being recognized by the phone app. It's 80% of the Sonos functionality for 30% of the cost. I'll take it!! I don't write a lot of product reviews and I was very hesitant to purchase this device due to so few reviews. However, I already own an AudioPro speaker, the T-10, and this device enabled me to have wi-fi streaming to my living room hi-fi setup plus it connects to my NAS drive, a variety of streaming services and enables multi-room and sharing the playback activity more smoothly with my spouse. With the bluetooth setup, it was more intuitive for one person. You simply connect your phone and control everything with your phone. However, your phone has to be active and within range, plus phone calls and message notifications disrupt the audio. It can be annoying plus it's a big battery drain. And you can't share playback with others easily. With this device, you have to commit to AudioPro's app, which is not perfect, but it gets the job done especially for internet radio and the major streaming services. And you have to use wi-fi, but that allows better audio quality anyway. Unlike my T-10 speaker, there is no bluetooth connection. Plenty of reviews I've seen (not just Amazon) have complained about this device not being able to reconnect or be identified by your phone. I also encountered this problem but realized that the firmware for the device needed to be updated. So the trick is to get connected the first time, then navigate into the device's settings and look for a big red "New" notification. It wasn't obvious to me at first, but simply tapping the word "New" enabled the update process and I haven't had any difficulty connecting to the device since then. The app isn't as perfect as Sonos, but I've read a lot of negative reviews about the Bluesound app, so I tend to think everyone except Sonos is struggling with their apps. This one works pretty reliably in the years that I've owned both the speaker and now this Link 1. The app doesn't have all the major US-based music streaming services, but it has many of the big ones and a couple of obscure ones. I'm going to stick with it, but there's still a very good argument for also having a Bluetooth connection. ... show more

  • Works great when used as 'master'.
I had some initial issues but they cleared up when I moved everything having anything to do with Audio Pro to the 2.4G branch of my home network. Also, you have to make the Link 1 the group master in order to get stereo on your HT. Sounds great so far. Further listening required! Update: The system sounds great, and the audio coming from my 5 HT speakers, three Addon C10's, and two C-Subs is perfectly synchronized. The audio stream from the Link-1 to my HT is two channel, 44.1KHz PCM, and appears to be a faithful reproduction of the Flac file on my home NAS box. I subtracted one star due to the App, which covers all of the functional bases, but needs work. ... show more

  • Straight forward product
The Link 1 is a simple device, but it does its task really well. It was easy to set up and link with the other speakers in the Audio Pro system and I’ve had no issues with it dropping out. I do wish it had a wider variety of inputs for its price but it definitely gets the job done. It’s really nice to be able to link your old speakers with the multiroom system. ... show more

  • Nice product
This unit replaces an Airport Express that connects my audio system to home WIFI. Signal transmission speed is much faster and sound quality is noticeably better. Installation setup was effortless and product performs as advertised. Price seems a little high but can't complain about the product itself. ... show more

  • don't waste your money
i just brought the the link 1 and try to install the ios app in my iphone 11 pro max, and the app is crush after few try to load. Then I use an android device to download the app. The app is running in android device. However, there is no sound from the link 1 , so i think of the other comment saying that it might need a firmware upgrade. Then I follow the step shown in the app and upgrade the Link 1. After the upgrade there is a window popup in my android app, and asking for resetting the setting. I confirmed as per the instruction, then the link 1 is no longer working, my android app could not find the link 1 and become a stone! so disappointed!!! ... show more

  • A multi-room mess
I purchased an Audiopro C10 and two Link 1 units to try and create a multiroom setup, and have encountered several issues. To begin with, only one of the two Link 1 units I received would successfully connect to the wifi or the iphone control app. I placed that unit just one room away from the C10, and was able to group the units via the app. However, while both the C10 and Link 1 would then play the same music, they did not do so at the same time. Music via bluetooth, came through the Link1-connected speakers several beats behind audio from the C10. When playing vinyl through the C10, music coming through the Link1 actually lagged *several seconds* behind. The result was a cacophonous mess. The second Link 1 I received would not connect to my wifi network, and would not illuminate its wifi icon. This morning, less than 24 hours after setting up my the multiroom system, the iphone app could not find *either* the C10 or Link1 that had been previously set up. I was able to run the setup sequence again and reconnect to the C10. Unfortunately now the Link1 that was working previously will not connect to my wireless network, and its wifi icon will not illuminate. I will be returning both the Link 1s. I am happy with the sound from the C10, but am now concerned that I will have to reconnect it to the app each time I use it. ... show more
