    • An okay starter laser
Size: A5 Pro
This is an alright starter laser engraver if you haven’t used them before. I would say this is missing a couple features that other laser engravers I’ve seen and used seem to have. There are no limit/knife switches that hook into the control board to help with homing the laser head. You’ll have to figure this out in the software instead or just use a smaller portion of the work area and Trace out the border of the cut first to make sure everything is lined up. I’m not sure if there is some maybe indication built into the step motor sensors but I don’t really know how the machine would know it’s running into the edge of the cutting are without you actively setting that up in the software. Second it doesn’t have a separate emergency stop button. Technically I suppose you could call the on and off switch the emergency stop as well, but it isn’t as easily accessed as some emergency stop buttons I’ve seen on other engravers. The protective case for the laser is an interesting choice. There are just three pieces of the laser blocking plastic that kind of attach to the laser by pressure. Personally I’d prefer a laser to have its safety shielding secured a little more, well, securely. The frame itself is sturdy and looks nice. The tracks run smoothly and I haven’t seen issues with those at all. The stepper motors are pretty good, and overall the construction is pretty good. You do have to make absolutely certain when putting it together that you are using the right pieces in the right spot and right orientation. Each piece has little aspects to it that if you put something facing the wrong way or not in the right spot will prevent it from working at all. You also have to do it in the exact order as in the instructions or you won’t be able to move on to the next step at times. Overall if you’re just getting into laser engraving and this fits better into your budget then it is a good option. I personally would save a bit more a slightly higher option that has a few extra features in it. This could be a good way to learn, though I would expect it to be a bit frustrating as well to newcomers. ... show more

bought this as a starter laser has been great , easy to use and set up . would recommend for anyone looking for a cheap first laser . amazon shipped mine fast had it in just a few days was put together and running in less than an hour . works great on wood , metal surface etch , have moved up to a 30 watt fiber laser as i engrave on steel alot ... show more

The unit packed well, excellently built and looks good. That’s all I can say about it. I purchased this by mistake, not realizing I needed a Laser Engraver. I thought it was all in one unit. It must be my ignorance not to realize this. Besides that, seriously, the unit is well built and looks like a quality unit. I gave it a 4, because the vendors information did not say: “Laser engraver is required to use this product.” ... show more

This is all new to me! I am a crafty person, love to dive in to new artistic experiences and was excited though a little anxious to try out this Atomstack Laser Engraver! It took me about an hour to set everything up. I looked online and watched several videos with information about software to use and settled on the $60 Lightburn. The laser cuts through 15~20mm thick wood and 15mm acrylic materials and it can engrave metal, glass, tile and wood. I've only used the thinner pieces of Baltic wood so far and it has been FUN! There is a learning curve and I'm just beginning but I can say that this machine looks sleek and tough and so far does what it says it can do!     • Nice honeycomb bed for laser engraver
This is a nice honeycomb bed for use with almost any laser engraver. A honeycomb bed is a a must have for doing any cutting work. This one is sturdy and well made. It comes with a piece of aluminum sheet metal that is the same size to go under the bed and protect your desk or wasteboard during cutting. The integrated T-tracks and hold-down clamps are a nice bonus that most beds don't have. Just be sure that your laser head won't crash into them during the cutting path. This isn't a very large bed which makes it perfect for use with my Atomstack P9 M50 laser. If you have a larger laser unit, you might want to get the larger size honeycomb bed. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This is a grest 5W laser, out of the box you can tell it’s well made and easy to put together. I used Lightburn software to work with the laser. I was able to quickly be up and burning projects. To review recommended settings for burning and cutting I went to Atomstack web site. They have a users forum allowing owners to ask other users advice on using any of their lasers or accessories. I was also able to find a Atomstack A5 Pro group on Facebook that share tips and advice on this specific model. I was able to burn projects on various species of wood, and worked on one project burning on leather. This laser will burn metal, but I have not tried that yet. Cutting was also easy to do, I’ve been burning/cutting earrings on 3mm plywood. And one multilayer geometric project. Atomstack also carry’s lots of accessories for their lasers. For cutting I had better results using both their honeycomb board and air assist options. This is certainly a laser I wish I could give more than 5 stars. ... show more
