  • Works great and easy to set up
Pattern Name: Cabinet
I saw a lot of bad reviews saying this was hard to put together or that it was bad quality. It was very easy to assemble with clear instructions and the piece is very clearly pressboard. If you want a nice, good-quality piece of furniture, you aren't getting that for this price. It is a cheap piece, but that was what I expected when I bought it. All in all, it is a decent quality piece for a good price, great for what I needed it for. ... show more

  • Make sure you don’t lose any of the hardware pieces
Pattern Name: Cabinet
Most of the hardware pieces included are the exact amount of those hardware pieces that you need to put it together. The only ones that have any extra are the small nails for the backboard. So if you lose a piece, you’re at a lose until you can replace it. Otherwise it is an easy build. I’m disabled and other than tiring me out, it wasn’t too hard to put together. Nice look and seems sturdy enough so far. You can adjust the number of shelves, to match your need. It fits nicely against a wall, and doesn’t take up too much space, while still giving decent space for DVDs, CDs, Games, etc. And comes with two wall braces if needed, so it won’t easily fall over. All in all a good buy. ... show more

  • It holds CDs.
Pattern Name: Cabinet
This went together fairly easily, and the end result feels stable enough to hold the stated number of CDs. What should have been in the instructions was to either put the parts or the finished unit in a hot attic or shed or something for about a week to bake out all the loose formaldehyde, since this is made of particle wood held together by glue. Would I buy this again? Probably. ... show more

  • Stay completely away from this junk!
Pattern Name: Cabinet
You are going to read a lot of mixed reviews about this product. I suppose you could call this media cabinet by Atlantic a "hit" or "miss" product. For me, this was a huge miss. I wasted 90 minutes of my time with this piece of junk -- 70 minutes to put together and 20 minutes to dismantle to put back in the box and return it to Amazon. Decades ago, I used to work in a video store. One of my jobs was putting together video furniture. There were always two types of furniture we would provide for our customers.....expensive and cheap. You got to know the manufacturers and how consistently well or poorly constructed their furniture was. Back in the day, one of my favorite manufacturers was SAUDER. However, you paid a premium for their storage cabinets. Right out of the box, I could tell immediately that this company's product was crud. You could see the signs of badly constructed pressboard. Still, I knew what I was getting into when I shelled out a mere $70 for this elaborate shelving system. I opted to go cheap, and I ended up paying the price. The one good thing I can say about Atlantic is that they labeled all their pieces. However, even with that feat accomplished, I ended staring at the instructions for minutes on end trying to figure out how this went together......that is, until I realized, they forgot to include page #3 of the stapled instructions. So, off to the Internet I went and downloaded their instruction manual .pdf. As I examined the shelves I could see defects in the workmanship. There was warping in the pressed wood. As I inserted and turned screws, the brown coating started coming off of the press board. An hour into the construction, I found that the locking system would not properly align --- no matter how many times I gently forced the screws into the wood. The entire bottom section of the cabinet had a sizeable gap because it would not properly align and lock into the upper system. Here's a perfect example of how badly designed this case is.... The holes for the wooden dowels are too big. The dowels do not fit tightly in the holes. They should. After all, these are pivotal pieces of guiding hardware that connect the parts together. Instead, the dowels just sit there loose. They fall out all over the place when you connect the shelves together. The round locking mechanisms don't always lock properly. So, now you have sections of shelving that are wobbling because they can't properly be secured. In all the years I have been putting together furniture like this, I have never seen something so poorly conceived as this shelving unit. The final straw came when I turned it over, in an attempt to nail the backing into the shelf. I could see a huge chunk of pressboard had just become loose on the side. I have included a photo below. There is no way something like that can be covered up. I then had to spend the next 20 minutes unscrewing and dismantling the entire cabinet. I contacted Amazon and have started the return process. Dear reader, I know you will be tempted to buy this cabinet because the picture looks nice and there are more than a few reviews from people who are happy with their purchase. If you want some advice from someone that has put together dozens of these kind of shelving systems over his lifetime -- and knows the good stuff from bad --- then please stay away from this piece of junk. There's bad furniture companies and then a step down from them is Atlantic. I have never seen such an awful product --- from build quality to the mere fact that you can't even properly align and screw this thing together. The sole purpose of this company selling this product is to make a quick buck off customers who want cheap furniture. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more money. What that will do is give you less heartache during construction, and, a nicer-looking piece of furniture in the end. These are the kind of products you learn from. By that I mean, you learn never to go cheap -- and if you do, you are taking chances of either getting something that will work for you or hours of wasted time. Brands to consider: Sauder, Venture House. Spend a little more money and get something that will make you happy. ... show more

  • The only well-designed CD shelf
Pattern Name: Cabinet
I’ve gone through a number of CD shelves of various sizes. This is the only one worth keeping because: 1. Deeper detachable shelves. Most similar products have shelves that are only 4.5 inches deep. If you have digipacks or box sets in cardboard, having them hang off could cause indentations down the line. 2. The shelves are not too thin or wide. Many similar products have shelves that start to sag when used to full capacity. You have to read the fine print in the manual to know that the maximum weight they can sustain is about half the media that they can fit. Here, the shelves are more than up to the task to hold as many CDs as they can fit (other media are even lighter) ... show more

  • This thing really tests your patience.
Pattern Name: Cabinet
We REALLY tried giving this thing a shot. In summary, the wood is very cheap & the backing is very similar to cardboard material. Take it from us, invest in something with a higher price tag…us 20 somethings tried to save a dollar. Good for a college apartment I’d say. 5 ft high, pretty lightweight. If you want to really know what went on during the building process, we tried assembling this 2x because we thought we just couldn’t follow directions. We didn’t return it because we spent so long trying to build it, we just thought we’d keep it at this point. The directions are pictures, be careful when assembling it, you might just build the entire thing backwards like us (that’s why we thought we were just some 20 somethings that couldn’t follow directions). It’s not stable and will make you question the integrity of the bookshelf until you put the back paneling on. Then it is stable. There’s wood dowels that will snap if you try to assemble it awkwardly. ... show more

  • Perfect for the price
Pattern Name: Cabinet
These shelves take up less space than the ones I had before (Atlantic Drawbridge). I had four of the other ones that took up nearly 80" and could hold less movies. These shelves, I bought two and the hold 58 more Blu-ray cases and take up 50" combined. They are easy to build and the second one took much less time to build. If you want sturdy shelves use wood glue every step while building. Wood glue is your friend. I also added some "L" brackets on the back at the floor level for feet since it's not against a wall and it's very sturdy, stable. Shelves look clean. ... show more
