I buy a three pack once a year. Mainly because I can't find any other phones that'll last any longer than that for under $1k. First thing to go out is the speaker. You'll find yourself wondering why nobody has called, then you'll realize the lights are flashing and there isn't any sound. This also means that you can't use the speakerphone option because the ringer and the speaker phone use the same speaker. The belt clip breaks easy and the menus are a total pain in the arse to navigate. Other than those issues and a handful of others that pop up after a year-ish (like buttons sticking, phones not hanging up, randomly losing signal or mystically losing connection to the base) I'd say it's a decent phone. The range is good and they can be dropped a couple times without serious damage (which happens because they aren't easy to hold). With the 86109 base you can have a lot of phones (I think it's twelve or something) married with no issues of compatibility. I use these in an automotive shop and we call one of my employees "the gorilla". The handsets don't have it easy. Maybe I should be happy I only do this once a year. I'm ordering another set today. I only give them three stars because I honestly feel like they are the best of the crap. I don't think it would be very difficult to beef up the phone, improve the menus or even offer a better phone altogether. When I find a phone that lasts longer than a year, is more ergonomic and doesn't have all those small issues, I'll give it five stars. ... show more

  • Had product for over 1 year!
I have had the phone system itself for over one year and it is the best Ive seen. I am now buying 3 more handsets to add to the upstairs bedrooms. We used to have a different phone system on each floor, but there really is no need. Everyone went for the one on the 1st floor (this one) because of the quality of the phonecalls and features. Between having 2 lines, the bluetooth features and HONESTLY the most crystal clear calls I've heard in a cordless, this one wins hands down. It has never failed us and I use it outside by the pool, gardening etc without an issue. I even forgot one time when I got in the car as I was talking to someone, and it only started to fuzz out way down the street as I was leaving our neighborhood. lol - forgot it was a cordless and not a cell. The small form factor is nice too but it's not so small that its annoying like some phones. The thing I like too is the quality - it doesnt feel cheap. I just picked up a corded phone and I like it, but it feels so plastic. This phone, although I sure there are some plastic parts, doesnt have that "feel" and that's important to me! I would rate this 5 out of 5! ... show more

  • Works as advertized
I went from an AT&T single line system that worked but had some major flaws to this two line system that works the way I always wanted a system to work. The speaker-phone works the best of all of the systems that I have had and I like being able to answer the voice mail from any phone. I have 6 extensions and it is expandable to 12 extensions. I was very surprised to also being able to sink my cell phone to the system and be able to answer and make cell phone calls. Very nice so far. ... show more

  • AT&T 86009 system
Works well as advertised; found the menus and setup quite intuitive even without reading the manuals. Very clear and complete information on the screens. I do not use the Bluetooth but tested it briefly and it does seem to work well, which would be a nice feature for the many who use cell phones as their house line. I bought the base set with 3 cordless, plus 3 cordless packs of 3; so we have 9 of these plus the base spread around a large house. So far, good strong signal everywhere. I considered getting a range extender but so far not needed. We do not use the answering machine part of the base and sets but it appears to be an easy setup and use for each of the lines. Except for one mismatched battery cover (which AT&T is suppose to send to me (not yet received) under warranty, I'm happy! ... show more

Arrived as memtioned and packaging was nicely packed. Glad to see that I can order these for my existing base. The other two I had lasted for three years because the keys seem to stick after awhile even though I clean it daily.

  • High quality
excellent sound quality and reception but takes too many steps to get around to the options available. Ergonomically challenged as it is slippery to hold.
