  • Poorly Engineered, Complicated, and Frustrating. Avoid this phone.
Terrible phone. It's as if the person that designed it never used a phone in a business environment before. Too many issues to list, but here's a few: You can't toggle between speaker phone and handset....the second time you press the speaker button the phone disconnects the call. So if you're on hold and want to place the phone on speaker (while you work on something else), then the call is answered and you want to switch back to the handset you will hang up instead of cycling back to the handset. Also, if you dial quickly you will not get a tone when a number is pushed.....while this seems like a small thing it's not - when you don't get feedback in the form of a tone when you push the number you presume that the number was misdialed so you hit it again only to learn that it's now there twice. If you choose to use your provider's voice mail (like 99% of us do) the procedure to get the number is convoluted (to say the least). And try dialing *99 to enter your mailbox....you will immediately redial the last number that called you.....who would design a phone where *99 initiated a redial? There's a separate button to do that....I can only presume it's an error in the programming software. There are many more. Do yourself a favor and avoid this phone like the plague.....it's more frustration than it's worth. I've spent the last 3 hours studying the 107 page manual....I run a business, not a phone technical service, I need my phone to work and be simple to use. This thing is a monstrosity. ... show more

  • BEST SMALL BUSINESS 4 LINE PHONE OUT THERE - AND FOR THE RIGHT PRICE
This is the best small business 4 line phone with cordless headsets. I own 2 salons, and I need 1 base for the receptionist, and cordless phones for others to answer the phone. We are very busy, and we don't sit at desks, so it is ideal that we have cordless phones all over the salon, so the phone doesn't go unanswered. You can have up to 4 cordless phones for 1 base, all other 4 line phones, you have to have a base for 1 cordless phone. Also, the cordless phone has a hold feature, that other brands don't have. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT !!! Ideal for salons, and non-desk businesses. Easy set up, despite that I have one at my other salon, the first time I got it, I was dialed in in 10 minutes... You can't go wrong with this system. AT&T knows what people want! ... show more

  • Had to replace base model because line 3 went bad
The phone isn't perfect and I wish I could buy just the base phone without the extension but the price of only the base was absolutely ridiculously priced so I went with the set. Yes the buttons are hard to press and I end up having to hang up a lot and start again. No big deal after you get used to it. Needs better features for businesses though. I feel this is slightly better than the average phone but I can't afford the highest end business phones. ... show more

  • but from reading other peoples reviews this seems like a normal occurrence
Totally unreliable. I am now on my second base unit. The first unit failed after a month. It would not dial out on lines 1 or 2. Since the system does not work without the base unit I purchased a second base unit to use while the first one was being repaired. The replacement unit cuts off messages after about 3 seconds. So now I have to mail in another unit for repair. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but from reading other peoples reviews this seems like a normal occurrence. Do yourself a favor and buy a different phone system. ... show more

  • Stay away from this phone. You will regret it if you buy it.
UPDATE: We have had this phone for 7 years and pretty much hate it. Some items below have been fixed addressed, but most are not. NO FAST FINGER dialing. Every button has to be purposely pressed firmly. Also it's very problematic. The main thing is that it keeps losing the time and date. You might not think that is a big deal, however you can't dial out if the time and date are not set. And it loses the time and date randomly. Sometimes several times a day. It has nothing to do with the power. It's on a UPS with a battery backup and it still loses time and date. AT&T says they extended the warranty on this phone to 2 years, which is good, but you have to send it back to get it replaced. We bought 2 repeaters, 2 handsets and one headset. The auto attendant is nice once we figured out how to set it up. But the reliability of this phone and it's functionality are poor. Also the picture they show on Amazon for this phone is not correct. They are showing a white, low buck phone. This phone is black and silver and looks very different. ORIGINAL REVIEW: We bought this phone for the auto attendant and the "extended range" features. Okay, here are some of the problems. We bought it for the auto attendant feature. It has up to 5 announcements, but in order to do the "for sales, press one, for service press two, for returns press three..., etc." you actually have to have a handset for each of those. You can't use the 5 announcements built into the base to "pass" the call to that recorded msg. You can only pass it to a handset, which then rings and if no answer it plays it's recorded message. Next is deleting messages. So far that I can tell you have to listen completely to the msg to delete it. Hitting delete during the msg seems to have no effect. Somewhat annoying, especially for long messages that you have already listened to. Keys: Wow, they are very small. The "soft" keys are recessed and a bit hard to hit sometimes. You have to press firmly on each button. No fast fingers allowed. Backlight: Goes off way too soon. (about 3 seconds). I can't find a way to set it longer. Menu/enter issue: When you change a setting, you must hit the menu/enter key to save it. Otherwise it ignores your changes. Nothing tells you this on the phone. Ending one call to go to the next: Normally you just hit the next line number and you would expect it to hang up the first. But it does not. It puts the first on hold. I can see how this might be helpful, but I prefer it to just hang up. A setting to toggle this feature would be better. Caller ID: flashes with missed calls. Really annoying. I don't need it flashing to tell me I missed a call. Autoscroll: Autoscroll in the directory is different from most phones. On most phones (And the menus on this phone) when you scroll to the bottom, it automatically moves to the top of the list. But in the directory, when you get to the bottom, it just beeps at you. And you can't "go backwards" in your directory. Ie, one most phones if you know the person is near the end of your directory (name Wayne for example) you just arrow up and it goes to the bottom and scrolls up. On this phone you can't do that. You have to start at the top and go all the way down. Seems like a no brainier to me. Speakerphone: it's good, but ANY noise on your end will mute the other side. So you can't really walk around with the phone in your hand or on your belt and use the speaker phone feature, you will not hear the other side. Still learning the phone. It's not the easiest phone to learn. Note: We come from a Durafon. Unbelievable range, with almost no features. It has to be the range champion of the domestic US phone market. With extended antenna on the phone, it's over a mile. This ATT Dect 6 phone without any repeaters does about 100' max. With 1 repeater it'll do another 100', depending on where the base is, where the repeater is and the buildings in between. The call clarity is pretty good as long as you are within range of a repeater. To go 200' in every direction from the base, you would need 4 repeaters to cover that area. (Basically a 400' diameter circle with the base at the center and 4 repeaters at 100' each N, S, E and W from the base. You get the idea.) The durafon is $500. This base and 4 repeaters and one handset is about $700.) The Durafon has no auto attendant, no answering machine, a very short directory, no clock, etc. So if outrageous range is your deal the durafon is better. But if your range is 100-200' with repeaters, and you need the auto attendant and other features, this is your phone if you can get over the other short comings of this phone. ... show more

We bought this for our small business. We have had the system now for quite awhile. Works very well for us. The sound is great, easy to learn, speaker phone works well, and it was inexpensive compared to many business phone systems.

The landline of this phone never works properly. It ties up lines after disconnected and plays music whenever a line has been put on hold and picked up from another phone. We would return if it was still open. Terrible
