  • Set collection, strategy, and fun for all experience levels.
First, this game is fun and great for strategy board gamers, whether you have a whole wall full of games or just a few. This is most similar to Jaipur, Mystic Market, or Dragonwood - in that it's simple set collection and hand management. There is a slight luck of the draw component - but it doesn't dilute the game too much. This game is perfect for family that don't game often or wouldn't be able to handle a "Five Tribes" or "Alhambra" type set game. It's also FAST and my wife and I get it to the table often because it can be played while dinner is cooking, etc. The game does offer replayability in that it has 6 different "Map" features, allowing the maps cards to do different things during the game. Choose one to start the game. (My wife and I break the rules and run 2 features off the same 15-card stack, for expert mode) Simple strategy: You'll ONLY want to complete the highest set of each suit to optimize points. The smaller values should only be used for endgame scoring when you can't complete a full set. You may complete a partial set - but it's truly a waste of potential points. Advanced strategy: Serious strategy players will look at the cards and do some basic math. Since almost all cards are played over the course of the game, the cards with the highest value-to-point ratio are the best sets. However, don't assume the Pharaoh (4) is the best, just because it's most rare - it's actually the worst payout. To calculate the "best" suits, look at the number of value it takes to compete a set. For example, red PotShard requires 5x cards at value 1 each. This means 5 value gets you 15 scoring points for the set. This is 3 points per value. The simplest comparison is that: Parchment is 4x cards at 1 value each scores 10. Tablet is 3x card at 1 value each scores 10. Thus, tablet is a better set in my eyes. There is hand management strategy too; the Sandstorm does discourage a large hand - but this can be managed by having 1 high value card store the value of a few lower value cards... But then you're vulnerable to the Thief! So, again, there is strategy in this simple game that is enough to satisfy the taste of serious gamers while entertaining family and casual players. For $20, it's a nice little 106-card game suited for all ages and all experience levels. (Though serious gamers can elevate how this plays) My wife and I add a marble (or other object) to pass around the table to show who's turn it is - passing the marble to end your turn. It's not needed for the game, but we like to show when we're done with our turn and pass to the next player. ... show more

  • Fun hand management game with some random luck thrown in
This is a fun two player game. If you like Jaipur and other hand management games with a little bit of random luck thrown in, you'll enjoy this one. I've played it as two player, and was surprised that it actually can play up to five. It plays as 2 player very . You basically have a hand a cards with which you try to make matched sets of things. The more of a kind you collect of a certain set, the more points is worth at the end of the game. The catch is that you have to decide when you want to cash in your hand for points. There are random thief and Sandstorm cards that are mixed in that causes you to lose cards in your hand. So if you want the cheap, quick point, you can cash them in the minute you have two of a kind, but if you hold out and try to get more, you run the risk of either having a big payout or having your opponent steal your card or losing half your hand due to a sandstorm. Some people may not like the random luck of Sandstorm and Thief cards that can come up. I personally like them as my significant other is a very experienced gamer and tends to win anything that is strategy. In this game, I can just blame my losing to a really bad round of luck. LOL. Keeps me from feeling like an idiot. Fun game, and I would love to try it with more than two people. ... show more

  • Fun card game for the collection
Really fun game to play with the fam. I played it with my brother in law over Thanksgiving and he likes it. He picked up all the rules after one play. But I knew how to play it so if you are new you may want to play through a game by yourself before you bring in other ppl. Just makes it more enjoyable if you are dealing with ppl that like to play games but not learning them. ... show more

  • My favorite card game
I have many card games. This one is by far my favorite. You have a hand of cards, a pool of cards and monuments to explore which also have needed cards. You can lose cards with thieve and storm cards. Rules are simple. You draw a card, buy from the market or pool if you want and lay cards down for points in a rummy sort of way. The more cards in a melt you lay down the more points. You can never add to a pre-existing meld.Turns are quick. There's a push your luck element to the game with how long you want to hold cards and risks in loosing key cards. There's some math in scoring at the end but not that bad. My best card game. ... show more

  • Fun Card Game!
In the beginning, its a little hard to understand the game. But after you try out a "test game" and play it through once, its pretty easy. I've only played it with 2ppl. And its really fun for 2 ppl. I think if you add more ppl the game will end too quickly. But overall a really fun card game!

  • Great game for 2 players and more!
A fantastic game for 2 players and more! My boyfriend and I were searching for a 2 player game and love this game! It was easy to learn and simple to understand. We started this as a game to play indoors during COVID-19 but canโ€™t wait until we can share this game with family friends in the future. Until then, weโ€™re so happy to have a 2 player game that is family friendly but also advanced enough to be taken seriously by adults. It also has multiple variations of gameplay that allow for new experiences and adventures with every game. ... show more
