I have a back door that's half door, half window, and west-facing. When the sun is setting, it heats up my dining room to about 9,000 degrees. I didn't want to completely block out this window, as my dog peers inside when he's ready to come back in, but I definitely needed something to block out some light, keep the dining room cool, and offer some privacy at night. This curtain fits perfectly at this window and still allows me (and my dog) to see through the window. We're no longer sweating while eating dinner, thanks to the cooling effect that this curtain has had by blocking a good majority of the sun during peak hours. I got light grey and it looks great against my slate blue painted dining room, and goes well with the slightly darker grey of my kitchen. One tip I read from another review is definitely get much wider than you think you need so that you have enough fabric to scrunch correctly when you tie at the middle. The door curtain installed as expected, blocks out the light, provides privacy, and you can easily put the band around the middle. It's a fair price, and does the job as expected. If you have existing curtain rods, it's a 60 second replacement. If you install curtain rod's, it may take you 5 to 10 minutes. I got a lighter color for our sunroom, and a dark brown for the front doors, the dark Brown blocks almost all of the light. I will say that the length of the curtain ties differed, although the curtains ordered were the same size. Both were long enough to wrap-around the middle of the curtains twice. ... show more

The fabric is truly thick enough to block light and the strap to bind the middle works perfectly. Great look and aesthetic for the price. Hard to beat that and just does what it needs to do. These curtains are well made, but they aren't true blackout curtains. In the attached picture the blackout curtain is on the left, and a sheer curtain in the same bank of windows is on the right. You can see that the blackout curtain offeres privacy and greatly reduces light, but it is in no way a true blackout curtain. If you want to reduce the amount of light coming in a window then this will work. If you want a true blackout curtain then look elsewhere. ... show more
