My old kayak has a fiberglass paddle and I thought it was light compared to aluminum. The carbon is 2/3 less than that. This was such a good upgrade for the price.

When I first started kayaking I laughed at the prices of the "high end" paddles. They were 1/3 the price of my kayak!! Now I get it....... If you are going to get into kayaking and plan on paddling for more that an hour (of course you are) then you owe it to your shoulders, arms, hands, and whole body to invest in a great paddle. Very good paddle for the price. Light stiff and certainly a bargain. Just don’t expect a $400+ paddle. Is saving a quarter pound worth an extra $200? Probably not to me.

Not even close to any of my Werners. Unless your stroke is perfect, you will get blade flutter. The rougher finish on the shaft can get annoying. Week long trips and sometimes 25 mile paddles can leave your hands raw. I work outside all day for a living, so I am not even talking about girly hands here. ... show more

Light and well made paddle! Love the tight fit between the two halves. Also love the ever-so-slight elipse where the hands go. The shaft is perfect for a good grip,, but not too rough. Have not hit the water yet, but see no problem what-so-ever.

This super-light paddle has eliminated the achy shoulders that I used to have after a second hour of occasional paddling.The two halves come apart and reassemble easily. The shaft in the grip areas is slightly oval and has a bit of surface texture, making it easy to grip, even when placing the thumbs on top. The blade moves smoothly through the water and its angle of attack is easily controlled. When you need a power stroke, it reliably delivers. And it was the least expensive all-carbon-fiber paddle that I could find in August 2015. I am delighted with the purchase. Very light weight paddle- 28.75 ounces. Love the oval textured grip and Posi-Lok® ferrule system. Seems very durable, although I have only used it 4 times so far.
