Should I Buy It?

Yes, most consumers rate the product as 4 and above out of 5 stars making the paddle a smart purchase. Despite its few faults, the paddle's quality, functionality and good design make it a great value for the money. Be sure to check the length of the paddle and note the absence of a leash in the package (if it is important to you).

  • Best inexpensive paddles out there! Love the drip notches...they work!
I have an outdoor adventure company and ordered one of these paddles at first. I liked it so much that I ordered three more. It's been a year and the male and female ends still seamlessly come together with no rust or deterioration from salt water. I will order more. The drip notches work well. The paddle is lightweight but slices through the water nicely. It does have a little "give" in it, which the high-end paddles do not have, but we aren't trying to win any kayak races! These paddles are great for any recreational kayaker. ... show more

  • Surprisingly good
Long term durability? Probably good enough. It's under $30 shipped with tax, so even a year's durability would be fine. It is not going to break on you. It may rot or crack, but you can see that coming. If you are a demanding kayaker you're not shopping for these "Amazon specials" anyway. They disassemble easy and reassemble just as easy. ... show more

  • Light and quick, outstanding paddle for the price
Wife needed a new paddle as hers was made for a kid. Got this in part because it's orange and she loves orange. But as I often go out by myself I wanted to try it and compare to my paddle. I've got a fishing kayak (even though I don't fish) and the paddles are squared off. They provide a lot of power and work well, but they take a good bit of energy to use. The difference between that paddle and this paddle was huge. I've googled and read the product description and all that and still can't quite figure out exactly what the "diversion effect" is as described in relation to the serrated teeth on the paddle. The way the water moves around the blade or kayak? I dunno. What I do know is I can move this paddle through the water with considerably less effort than my other paddle. Whatever magic those teeth provide, it is awesome. A friend who has a similar paddle without the teeth tried it and thought it was better was well. So two thumbs up for paddle teeth. The paddle floats no problem, as it should. Don't know why anyone would want one that doesn't. The grip is solid. At under $30 I can't see myself buying a different paddle, nor should you in this price range. Get it, you won't be sad. If you are sad anyway, well, it isn't really the paddle's fault. ... show more

  • Good paddle at a reasonable price
I use this paddle on a small inflatable kayak. The kayak came with a terrible paddle that breaks down into 7 parts. This 2-part replacement paddle is much sturdier and is compact enough when broken down. For comfort, you may want to add cushioned hand grips. Update: The plastic clip on the included leash is fragile and broke after about a dozen uses. I replaced it with a small carabiner I bought at Daiso. ... show more

  • Good simple paddle
Definitely light weight and I like the ability to fully adjust any angles exactly how I need it. The fastening system is a bit questionable... we will see if over time there are any issues. Pin holding clasp begins to wiggle / slide out...I recommend checking that or gluing it in. Colors are true... Would prefer having a better grip area with slight passing or ergonomic shape. ... show more

  • You could probably get some that are more expensive, but why?
I ordered five of these to go along with some new kayaks we purchased and I could not be more pleased. I expected I'd have to make some sacrifices in exchange for the low price, but I genuinely do not feel like I have. The paddles are extremely sturdy when put together and come apart very easily for transport. The design of the paddles also makes them very easy and efficient to use. I've already used them several times and expect they will last a long time as well. Cheaper isn't always better, but in this case, you aren't going to get much better by spending more. ... show more

  • The unusual jagged sided paddle
I used this type of paddle in Maui with Jason as our guide, it is brilliant for grabbing onto another paddle of the same type and pulling or towing another kayaker
