I purchased this computer about a month ago, when my old Apple laptop decided to no longer recognize two keys at all whenever you pressed them. Unfortunately, one of those keys was needed to enter in my password to get me past Apple's opening screen, or to Touch ID in its place. So I ended up essentially locked out of my own computer when I could no longer enter the full password despite pressing the proper keys in the proper order. I needed another laptop quickly as my only backup to the internet, etc. was by my phone, and no cell phone is a good substitute computer for very long (if at all) for those with vision issues, given the screen size. I wanted to replace the laptop with another made by Apple, and knowing I needed the largest screen available narrowed the choices and decision making. With some advice from others about what I needed technically, I then came to Amazon, typed in what I was sort of looking for and started shopping on my tiny screen on my phone, and this particular computer seemed to fit the bill and not be exorbitantly priced, so this is what I chose to replace my old. This laptop works so much quicker, and I love the screen size, which is a bit larger than my old Apple laptop. Everything has worked great, though I do miss the Touch Bar that my old laptop had, and am having to adjust again to the extra row of keys. Set up was super easy to do, as I used Time Machine and an old backup to transfer my files from one computer to the other. Most things transferred smoothly and quickly. While I have yet to use all the different ports on the side of the computer, I am happy to have some of them back. I thought I would love having the slightly cloth covered mag safe connection to electricity when needing to charge the computer, but truly miss the old USB-C connection that used to be on both sides of my laptop, as I have more than once disconnected the mag safe charger accidentally while charging the battery without realizing it, as it is now only on the left side of my new laptop, and my electrical connection is on the right. Battery life has been great though, and the computer can run all day on a single charge with no problem. Amazon did a great job with delivery too, sending a passcode beforehand, to make sure the laptop was delivered to the right address and person at the right time. The media could not be loaded. This is my first MacBook Pro and it is stunning! The speakers on this thing are INSANE! I know Apple products get a bad wrap for being over priced but, the quality is exceptional. If Amzon is still selling for 20% off (or more if you're lucky) DO NOT WAIT! One thing I noticed is that it is way too heavy for me to handle one handed. Coming from the air I tried to use the same muscle memory and clumsily banged it on my desk. Although the use case for my needs isn't allot,I am still super impressed with the performance of this laptop. Coming from an Intel mbp with butterfly keyboard, Intel chip, this machine blows it out of the water. It's extremely quick, and smooth. Keyboard feedback is great. Plenty of RAM although it's overkill for my needs. For stem major student that opens up Microsoft suite of programs and plenty of tabs of your browser(chrome/safari), I recommend saving some money and getting 18 gb of RAM for cheaper. Unless you are video/photo editing, I didn't see the need for the extra RAM. Plenty of people preach about getting more RAM but I believe that from experience I would have been fine with 18gb as well. The screen is huge and makes laptop heavier and less portable. Something to consider if portability is a requirement. Luckily I study mainly at home and don't bring laptop to class that often. Yes it's bulky and heavy. Speakers are impressive though and makes movie watching a great experience. ... show more

The computer is exceptionally well made. Hinges are tight and feel solid. Screen is very bright and clear. Appreciate that they finally put a USB on each side of the computer - was cramped for space before. The whole thing just "feels" good in your hands. The battery charges in minutes and lasts almost a week! Having said that, the OS that it comes with, Sonoma, is a real pain to work with. The older OS, Mojave, was MUCH easier to use and MUCH more straight forward. Even simple drag and drop on Sonoma is convoluted. The #1 complaint? Still no touch screen. When Windows and non-computer users try to use the MacBook, they are always touching the screen like its a phone. As a mostly PC user, the main reason I got this was for the battery life. And it does not dissapoint - I can go 5 - 6 days without having to charge but I am using it mainly for browsing, youtube, etc. Nothing power intensive for now...The build quality is still of the highest level. I like the compact feel, the slim size, the sturdiness (no flex on the screen), the magnetic snap charging cable, very quick to charge (about 2 hours to full charge from 10 - 15 %). This will not compete with high end PC gaming machines like Alienware X16, Razerblade 16, MSI, ASUS, etc. when it comes to gaming so not a very good choice for that.
