  • Had this for 12 hours and LOVE IT! Better performance than my 10 yr old UPS battery
Size: 1500VA Style: Tower Pattern Name: UPS
5/5 Rating Pros Can handle large loads of power Easy to connect and register LCD Digital Display 8 plug outlets Takes up small space Cons HEAVY!!! The outlet plugs on the back are very close together, it's tough to use all the plug outlets Pricey I operate a small business as well as do tons of research with my custom built computer. I have dual 32 inch monitors that takes up a lot of power. I am quite sure I draw more power than most. My previous UPS back up battery served me well until I got the monitors, now 3 times a month I get an overload on my UPS and the noise won't go off until I unplug all outlets. It's grown to be a pain. Until this arrived. First impression - It's HEAVY!! Once you get it out the box you see it has a small form factor which is good. It can lay under the desk or to the side. I like that it has 8 outlets but they are so close together you can't plug anything that has a large plug without taking up two spots. I plugged everything I had in my 10 yr old UPS and the load is only at 25% on this. I love it. It was easy to register, I haven't used much of the advanced features but I will slowly get into it. So far so good. I'm very impressed with the quality and ease of use. I will update my review after using for awhile. ... show more

  • long runtime
Size: 1500VA Style: Tower Pattern Name: UPS
This is my third unit like this and all 3 are working great. I like them because they have a long run time if the power goes down for a while and they use inverters to generate the 120v when it is running. They just quietly grind away in the background with no issues.

  • Do your research before buying a UPS
Size: 1000VA Style: Rackmount Pattern Name: UPS
This is my second APC rack-mount UPS for home use. I spent a lot of time researching the different vendors and their battery run times based on the load I was expecting. I chose the higher rated model for my second one (my first was 750VA) because I wanted to last through outages up to an hour. Setup is relatively straightforward, though I think the SmartConnect interface is very much lacking relative to a Network Management Card (which I bought after the fact). APC wants customers to pay for online access to additional features such as control of the outlet groups, which I find cheap and tacky. Based on my 200W load, the UPS will give me close to an hour backup, which is ample time to safely protect my QNAP NAS drives (they use SNMP to detect an outage and perform a clean shutdown), and to shed load by powering off my NVR and other non-essential devices. The APC UPS is a solid piece of hardware, and I trust the brand and reputation to protect my essential data against surges, brown-outs, and black-outs. ... show more

  • Works well, does NOT have wifi, definitely geared towards IT pros
Size: 1500VA Style: Tower Pattern Name: UPS
I bought this in addition to having a full-house generator, because we suffered a continuous brownout (different than a blackout) for many hours, which mean the generator didn't kick in but various electronics suffered. The goal with this was to protect the most essential stuff in these situations. As a small UPS backup battery with true sinewave protection, which essentially addresses this problem, the unit appears to work flawlessly thus far. So in terms of its main function, by all means, it does what it says it does. Since that is its core function, I am awarding it four stars. However, I have caveats with respect to the industrial roots clearly expressed through the design language. As one example, the opening salvo for the little screen in the front is a menu asking you to pick a language, which is reasonable, but heaven forbid you can't clearly see and interpret the symbols on the four buttons underneath and mistakenly select a language in which you are not fluent as a result. Life after that that can get... interesting... until you figure out how to navigate the not-so-intuitive menus in that foreign language to get it back to yours. Or good luck figuring out the proper menu entry to enable the cloud management system. Or, for that matter, what "group 1" means on the back of the unit - basically half the power ports are surrounded by a big green border that says "group 1" on it, whereas the others are not. You'd naturally imagine that the power ports with the pretty border that draws your attention are the more important one, because that's how proper design works. Alas, you'd be wrong - instead, "group 1" is actually the SECONDARY (or "controlled") group, and the plain looking one is the one you want to stick your main stuff into. The manual here is no help either, if you care to try and read it (it's pretty dense). There is nothing wrong with any of this, per se, and an IT person who does this all day will not be troubled in the least. Thankfully I have that experience in my background, but this sort of menu design and user interface is very 1990s or 2000s - not 2020s. A minor issue worth noting is that while this is a "cloud enabled" unit, it doesn't come with WiFi! it was a bit of a shocker for me. I had to then order a WiFi bridge so that I can actually connect the unit to the cloud. In a data center, where wired Ethernet is the norm, this would of course not be a problem, but in a home office? it's just another example of it being a 20 years old design. ... show more

We purchase 2-3 a year and they always work great

  • Works as advertised for a year now
Size: 3000VA Style: Tower Pattern Name: UPS
Bought this, plugged it in, let it charge up, then plugged in our electronics and it just works. It has worked flawlessly for a year now. I have a 65" plasma TV, wifi router, modem, and all associated home entertainment gadgets plugged into it. We never know if the power goes out while streaming a movie or playing a game in a very rural area where power fluctuations and outages are common. I didn't mess with any settings, other than to silence the beep, and I don't have it connected to a computer. It is silent until it starts running off battery, then there is a slight fan noise. Power on, plug&play. This is a beast of a ups. Tip: Buy the 30 to 20amp adapter for this unless you want to swap out your wall plug. ... show more
