  • Very average entry level IPL. Modest power (36W). Three modes. Model FZ-201
Another IPL. Amazon is flooded with them now. And outside of the recognizable brand names, most are made in a handful of factories, with the same capabilities. There are a few that stand out as particularly good, and a few that stand out as really terrible. But this one falls in the middle, i.e. a very average entry level unit. There are a few extra features some IPLs offer, like ICE cooling or high power flashing. But this particular device is your basic entry level machine with a single exception: It has three modes: HR/SC/RA. HR is hair removal. SC is skin rejuvenation. RA is acne mode. There's scant documentation on the modes, and my guess is they aren't very well differentiated. But there you have it. Specifics of this IPL device: ** Has three modes: Hair removal (HR), skin rejuvenation (SC), and Acne (RA) ** 36W power supply (lower-mid-level) ** NO ICE skin cooling functionality ** LCD screen shows focus area and power level (1-9) ** Oblong shape, less convenient in the hand than gun ** The power cord attaches to the end of the unit (see photos) ** No attachments to change the flash end shape ** Rated for 999,900 flashes You run the tool over the area where you want to remove hair and make sure you expose all the hair follicles in that region. You will not see any immediate results. The light signals your hair to stop growing, but it requires multiple treatments over several weeks before you will be expected to see results. Eventually, you should find a substantial reduction in the hair in the treated areas. In the box, you get the tool, a power cord, a pair of eye protection glasses, a cheap disposable razor, plus instructions. As noted before, this gun offers three modes: Hair removal (HR), Skin rejuvenation (SC), and Acne mode (RA). Typically, if an IPL device offers these alternate modes, it will come with additional filters that attach to the front of the gun to focus the wavelength of the light. The usefulness of these alternative modes (outside of HR) is subject to debate. But in any event, they are generally based on focusing the light into a more narrow range than that used by HR. I can't attest to the usefulness/viability here, although it's easy enough to turn these modes on (press the leftmost button below the LCD screen to change the mode). Overall, this is a basic entry level IPL. Whether you choose this one will depend on how price-competitive it is when you go to purchase. Pros: ** LCD display screen for number of flashes, power ** Three function modes Cons: ** Low/modest power (36W) ** No ICE cooling ** No additional focusing heads ... show more

  • Directions are not great
My main issue with this product is that the directions are just not that great. There are 3 modes to it but there is no explanation as to what they are or what they do---I was able to figure it out but that took doing research on products like it on the internet. As far as using it goes---it seems fine. I have tried it a few times but it is still too early to see results. I have had hair removal done professionally and even on the strongest setting this one feels a lot less uncomfortable so I suspect it is not super high-powered but that is probably a plus for home use. If the directions were better and more detailed I would have given it a better rating. ... show more

  • First Thoughts
Ok, bear in mind I have only used this product twice so I can’t comment on the effectiveness just yet. I will update my review in a few weeks for that. My first impressions are that this is a very nice IPL device that is comfortable to use with minimal discomfort. After a treatment my skin is slightly red and tender, but that sensation goes away quickly. The unit itself feels good in the hand and feels well made. It was packaged very nicely. The instructions are a little confusing but after I few read-throughs I felt comfortable starting a treatment. You can adjust the power level to your comfort level and skin/hair type. I have a light to medium complexion and dark hair. After 2 treatments it’s hard to say if it is working, but the regrowth of hair does appear to be a little more sparse I think. I definitely plan on continuing weekly treatments and will update my review with the results. ... show more

  • Functions well, but a bit of a commitment to get full results
This unit seems to function really well, though I thought it was defective when I first turned it on and it wouldn't do anything. It needs to be at a 90 degree angle and up against your skin, or it won't trigger the light, putting it against a wall or desk surface didn't trigger it. I assume this is a safety thing so you don't accidentally blind yourself with it, therefore the sunglasses that come with it to protect your eyes. I've so far only used it up to a power level 3 and you can feel some heat from it, but it's not uncomfortable, for the next session, I'll try to bump it up to 5 and see how that is and then maybe go higher from there. It takes 8 weeks of treatments to work, so it's a bit of a commitment and we'll see how effective it is. Overall, this seems like a nice unit. I've never used one of these before, it seems to work well, but can't really comment yet on how effective the overall process will be. ... show more

  • Functional
Forgettable IPL device that is decent and functional and will work if you have the right skin color and hair color. Pros =sub $100 =9 levels instead of 5 =Aopvui selects good generic machines Standard 1M flashes Cons =only 13J vs 17-23J =No cooling =36w which is the bare minimum. This means it takes longer to see results =not gun-shaped which is easier to hold ... show more

  • Effective Results
Like all the girls out there,I wanted to get rid of body hair too from always. I found many IPLs but no one suited my budget then I found this one,the price attracted me and reviews were good too so I bought it. Received it a few weeks back, was nervous to use it but finally decided to give it a try. I could see positive results after few regular uses, followed user manual. This is not chargeable but works best when is in the plug. Comes with protective glasses so eyes stay out of danger too. Only thing is you will have to use it more regularly to see better results, even though it is time consuming but is worth trying. Will highly recommend this to girls who want to get rid of unnecessary body hair in minimum cost. ... show more
