Top Amazon Reviews

  • This review is for the noobs and parents trying to be cool
I had zero experience 3D printing before buying this. I was told by a friend that getting an auto leveler would be best and MAN IS IT. This is a great printer. Pretty idiot proof lol. SET UP: super easy and very clear instructions. If your printer turns on but the screen does not work, you just have to switch the voltage (w/e it’s called) for the power. Save you some googling there lol. The Z-offset will be crucial and sometimes takes some adjusting. Mine lives at about -0.85 so don’t be scared to adjust it. PRINTING: It comes with a tiny memory card and USB stick. Here’s how you print after you’ve done the owl test print. - Put memory card in usb and plug into computer - Open a file sharing 3D model site such printables(dot)com and search through things you’d like to print. I’d recommend reviewing how many files before clicking download all as some are different sizes or interchangeable options. This printer uses g code so any file like that should be ready to print. However, most files are in STL (I’m a noob, idk what printers use that lol). - Once g codes are downloaded, just drag and drop to your usb memory stick - (skip if downloaded g codes) If you downloaded another file type, you will have to splice it. You can do so by downloading a program called Ultimaker Cura and opening the file in there. You can duplicate, adjust size, add supports, adjust filament fill, etc. but most importantly, change to g code. This will take some getting used to but it’ll work. - Once usb is loaded up and properly ejected (right click usb and click eject), put the memory stick back in the printer. - Turn on and start printing! Recommendations: as you are getting the hang of printing, always hang out at the beginning so you can make sure it’s printing well. Any files that you don’t manually splice may not come with supports so if it prints badly, it’s probably the file #wallewithpot2023 lol. You can adjust the z-offset while printing and it’ll help if it’s not looking right. PROS: ease of use, auto level, ease of setup, prints great, display shows percentage completed CONS: does not connect to a phone app, uses a lesser common file type (but able to reconfigure), doesn’t connect directly to computer unless you buy a cable BEST FILAMENT: Anykubic sells a rainbow filament for this printer and it’s GORGEOUS (see photo of dragon). We have also tried another brand that’s blue on one side and green on the other. Print on that is hit or miss but looked great on a fidget. ... show more

  • Great hobby printer, autoleveling is great
I bought this printer for hobby prints and small projects and it works great. It is easy to put together and set up. The controls are straightforward, and the touch screen and autoleveling are great for quality of life. I would recommend this printer for anyone else who is looking for a good first printer. ... show more

  • Must have gotten a a bad unit.
I have a issue with the direct drive printer head being excessively wobbly even after tightening the pulley wheel as tight as is goes and tightening the pulley belt. The tech said it is normal for the printer head to wobble which completely contradicts the assemble directions and everything I researched online. Another issue is the bed leveling. The bed is as tight as it will tighten down from the screws under the magnetic bed mat. The bed has absolutely no wobble and even after it self levels when I print the nozzle is hitting in some spots and too far away in other spots which means the bed might be worped and or the excessively loose printer head is also contributing to the filament printing uneven across the bed. The z offset is also inconsistent and has to be set every print and when it is set properly on the center of the print bed it does not maintain that offset all around the bed as it prints and it needs to be adjusted as it is printing. And the printer does not auto home or re-home in the proper location. So when it starts a new print it thinks it's in the correct location which should be at the bottom left side of the bed plate but that's not where it is so as the print progresses and the bed moves down the X axis it is pushing the bed further then it should and it's making the motor grind. So I have 3 significant issues and I followed the after purchase techs recommendations and none of them corrected the issues and honestly they were not correct multiple times on trouble shooting ... show more

  • Frustrated and Disappointed, but it DOES get better.
I am fairly new to 3D printing. Bought this printer because it's the same one we use at work, which is where I learned to use it. It was easy to set up, and I was printing fairly quickly. The prints were great. Until it quit. I had printed a 9 hour job on a Saturday with no problems. Sunday morning, I tried to print the same job, using the same filament. After I leveled it and set the Z Offset, I started the job. The extruder mechanism made a horrible grinding noise and would not extrude filament. The gears wouldn't turn, the filament wouldn't extrude, it just made that horrid grinding noise. I tried everything I could think of: unloaded the filament, re-loaded it, cleaned the extruder nozzle, etc. Spent most of Sunday morning on the internet, trying to find a solution. I discovered that this seems to be a fairly common problem and seems to happen frequently. I'm not going to take it apart because that skill is NOT in my performance envelope. I shouldn't have to disassemble and repair something this expensive that has only been used 9 times. I'm also not going to buy replacement parts that may or may not work, even IF I could find someone to install them. (Again, mechanical skills are not in my performance envelope.) Maybe if I were an electronics savvy young computer person with a multimeter and no fear of technology, I could repair it, but I'm not. So, I'm not going to throw good money after bad. Now for the good news: FORTUNATELY, I purchased this through Amazon AND this happened before the return window expired. They are allowing me to return it and have shipped me another one. I boxed up the nonfunctioning unit and have arranged for a UPS pickup, but that took all Sunday afternoon. (I am somewhat mobility impaired so it takes me twice as long to do that type of thing than it would a healthy person.) I also made a video of me boxing up the unit, so I can prove I sent everything back, should that become necessary. I've never had a problem with Amazon's return procedure, but I've also never used it for a big-ticket item like this. So, better safe than sorry. Believe it or not, I really liked this printer!! That's why I chose the exchange option rather than a refund. It gave me the quality prints I was looking for, within the price range I had to spend. It was easy to set up and to use. And it worked fine, while it was working! But when it failed, it failed spectacularly and without any warning, and there's nothing an average mortal can do to fix it. I consider it fortunate that it quit before the return window closed. I shudder to think what would have happened if it had waited another 10 days, or if I had to go through the company to get help. If you purchase this unit, DON'T THROW YOUR PACKAGING AWAY!! I await the new unit. I'm hopeful the new one will work right, and for longer than a couple of days. I will update this review as soon as it comes in and I get it set up. UPDATE: The new printer arrived a day before it was scheduled to be here. I set it up right away and it seems to be working well. In addition, the company reached out to me after reading this review and assured me that if another problem developed, they would render prompt support. I desperately hope that is NOT needed! YET ANOTHER UPDATE: The printer is still working very well. The company offered me a gift for the initial inconvenience, which arrived as promised. I’m super glad it worked out, because it really is a nice machine. I’m having tons of fun and learning a lot. Unsolicited advice: read the instructions thoroughly. I went so far as to take a couple of online courses and bought several books. The more you know, the better this little guy works! T ... show more
