  • Almost great - treat with care
I purchased both the weighted flywheel slider and the parallax motion slider. I would give both a 4. I did not find an option to review them separately. Flywheel slider: I really fell in love with this slider and like the other reviewers found that the weighted sliding mechanism gave amazingly smooth motion. The material also feels excellent, including the soft rubber base on the camera mount. However, the point of failure for me was that the mounting screw became solidly stuck in my tripod head. The screw is a 1/4th inch with a 3/8th inch adapter, and despite my hatred for this setup to be bound to get stuck in a 3/8th port, I took the chance and stuck my tripod head with camera onto the mounting plate. My test session which provided plentiful glee ended in sheer horror as the mounting screw came out of the base and would not come out of my tripod head. I managed to wrench off the mounting screw and almost thought I lost a good tripod head before I resorted to a screw extractor to take out the adapter. I still look at the slider with much love but am deeply concerned about this problem repeating itself in the future. If I could give partial stars this would be a 3.5 due to the mounting screw and base joining being of poor design, however, since I am forced to, I will add 0.5 point for the quality of the slide action itself. If you can live with careful and light handling of this, taking care not to torque the camera or tripod head onto the base a lot, then you can enjoy it for the sliding action. I also like that it is a bit more compact and light compared to other weighted sliders. Parallax slider: Honestly if I didn’t experience flywheel sliders I might have given this a 5, but I have already been spoiled. Flywheels are the only way to go if you want consistent slides with less effort, just like Syrp sliders. This parallax slider however, has the smoothest bearings and slide of those that don’t have flywheel. It is seriously smooth and with practice I’m sure could be managed to be consistently used. The parallax motion is also beautiful. The only knock on this is that the parallax rod has to be very carefully placed back into position to ensure the slide can be performed straight again without parallax. While I would love to give this a 5, I would say I could only do so if the price was around $80-$90, then this build choice would be more than acceptable. Still I commend the manufacturer for coming up with this unique design. ... show more

  • Impossible to beat for the price
Overall, this is an exceptional value for a weighted slider. The five star rating factors in price; if it were a fair bit more expensive, I'd give it 4 stars. Likes: This slider is very sturdy and stable, and has a great overall fit/finish. With just a few minutes of practice, I was able to get very smooth, consistent movement with a fairly heavy camera/lens (Sony A7III with Tamron 28-75mm). Also works great with compact cameras and cell phones. The weighted flywheel really works great to achieve a smooth and even slide motion. It comes with a pretty nice case with form-fitting foam (which is surprising considering the ultra-low price point). There are nice foam bumpers on either end of the rails to prevent a harsh stop (no metal-on-metal). Adjustment wrenches are included. There's really not a whole lot to complain about, but in the interest of being balanced, I've rattled off some issues below. Dislikes: The 31.5" advertised size is for the entire slider assembly, not the actual travel path. The max possible travel path is 27.5". But 27.5" width is only possible if no camera is attached, or if you have a taller/skinnier ball head or other mount, because the flywheel is on the "inside" of the frame and will hit the camera or head before the slider base can get all the way to the other side. In my testing, I actually get about 26.5" of travel, which is still very good, but a little less than what I hoped for based on the advertised spec. The knob on the flywheel makes it a hard to get smooth motion. It's much easier to use a video ball head or simply use your hand on the base of the slider base than to use the knob. Further, there is no user-friendly way to remove or replace the knob. Not the biggest deal in the world, but it's something I'd prefer to be able to adjust. There are no instructions included AT ALL. Nothing. There was an extra anodized orange thumbscrew included in the hardware baggie, but it doesn't seem to fit any of the screw holes on the slider. No idea what it's for, and with no instructions, I suppose it will remain a mystery. On the other hand, the slider comes fully assembled, so there's no real *need* for a manual. Again, overall, this is a very good price:performance ratio product. ... show more

  • Decent but you can't drive the carriage with the flywheel
This slider is well-made but the biggest issue for me is that you can't move the slider carriage by turning the flywheel. You can make the flywheel turn by pushing the carriage but there's some sort of slip coupling mechanism that won't let it work the other way. The slider action was a little lumpy unloaded but got quite a bit better with my camera, lens, monitor and fluid head attached. ... show more

  • Smooth at a Great Price!
I was skeptical at first because of the great price. Working with it, I found it performed like a 500.00 rig. Amazingly smooth and easy to work with. Camera fit snug and also the glide is neutral so it doesn't knock at end or beginning.
