Out of the box, I am super impressed with this. I've been playing with it, and I'm very pleased so far. I tested the mic a little, and it seems to be a step up from my phone's mic, for someone standing several feet away, but I will have to play with it some more to see how that really goes. I haven't put batteries in the light yet so I can't speak to that yet. I did test the remote, and it does work. It easily connected to my Note 9 (not everything does). I'm shockingly impressed with the tripod and glad I opted for this model that includes it (I almost didn't). It's quite versatile, and feels pretty sturdy. The ball locks tightly in place (so far anyway). There are rubbery grips on the feet, and the legs have the option to spread ALL the way out to provide the most stability. The legs also angle individually for optimum adjustment, and they extend easily. The ball head can be removed to allow the rig to be installed directly on top of the tripod legs instead. My favorite aspect is the way in which the rig part clamps onto the phone. Rather than a knob you have to use to tighten and loosen the phone clamp, this model utilizes a ratchet type mechanism that releases with a simple push of a button. I looked all over Amazon for such a feature, so that's why I opted for this model. Very glad I did. When I need my phone, it's SO much easier to pop that button and release my phone than it would be to reach behind and turn a knob to get it free. The grips are slightly rubbery, and though designed well, will probably require me to add some foam pieces to them, due to the thickness of my phone case (it's kind of a beast). It's not totally necessary, but if I have my 11 yr old film me, I'll want it to be super secure. I also like that the rig is a lightweight plastic. It feels sturdy enough, yet nice and light enough for handheld shooting. I will try to remember to update this, to speak more on the quality of the mic and the light. You can't beat this for the price. Great value when you consider what you get. The phone cage itself is sturdy yet lightweight and I'm glad to see metal inserts at the screw in mounting points for the tripod. The tripod is also sturdy and handy to have with this kit. I can't tell much about the microphone but I know it does work. The light is great for its size and the remote works with android and iphone. You won't be disappointed if your expectations are realistic and you understand that you're buying a decent consumer grade kit. ... show more
