  • Get the best pure sinewave inverter you can afford.
Style: 1500W Modified Sine
Nice inverter, Ampeak quality. But the 1500 modified sine wave does not power my "700 watt" Magic Chef microwave, because for whatever reason the microwave actually puts out 1180 watts... almost 500 watts over it's 700 rating. The inverter shuts down and beeps. The same microwave works fine with an Ampeak pure sinewave 2000 and the 2000 powers a mini fridge at the same time too, no problem. So I estimate the real world capacity of the 1500 modified wave converter at 1100 or less. Yes the small fans are loud but not whiny. Loud enough that you won't want to have them situated too near living space. They may come on for one second, or 3, or 10 or longer then stop again, etc. I recommend a larger Ampeak pure sine wave converter if it's in your budget. ... show more

  • 1500W - Great inverter for work vehicle!
Style: 1500W Modified Sine
This is a review of the 1500W version (6.2A). I work out of a vehicle primarily and have a laptop onboard with a touchscreen monitor & keyboard that's mounted in the cab. This inverter wires directly to the battery terminals, which can be tricky for most people. Hooking it up is the easy part, but running the cabling can be quite tricky (if you're going to do a more permanent installation, you'd run it through the firewall with longer cables - just make sure they're the 4 gauge). Luckily, the vehicle I operate has the battery in the trunk, so I've got the inverter velcro'd in the trunk & cables attached to the battery posts. I then use a heavy-duty extension cable that's snaked in under the side panels up to the front where I've got the monitor plugged in. In the trunk, I've got a power strip hooked into the inverter that has the laptop plugged in & the extension cable. So, ultimately, with all of that powered, I use about 28-29W of power consumption according to the screen. That's... incredibly low for what I'm running. Very impressive. That's with the computer running fully, plugged in, monitor on, with applications in usage. If you're going to run something similar like I have, invest in the additional (sold separately) on/off remote switch. It's what plugs into that little phone-cable looking port, and then you'll run that where it's easily accessible, giving you the ability to turn it off remotely. It's incredibly useful. With my situation, I'd have to pop the trunk to turn off the inverter manually. When I'm on a site, generally I'll power down my vehicle when I'm outside of the car, so I'll hit the switch and then when I get back, I'll power it back on right quick to do some computer work. Previously used a cheaper $30 inverter on Amazon that was around 300W, but quickly found out that it didn't have the protection nor fuses, and lasted only one month of the rigorous usage I put them through as I'm constantly on the computer in the vehicle. The thing I like the most about this inverter is that it's a direct battery terminal post hookup. It's not a socket you're plugging the inverter into just to have a fuse blow for the outlet - not good! There's a ton of applications and usages people will use these for. I primarily see them used in work vehicles, especially vans that's running internal equipment (locksmiths, maintenance vehicles, contractors, etc etc). Recommended. ... show more

  • Does what it says it can do
Style: 200w
My wife has wanted Christmas lights on her car and this year she had them because of this inverter. She also found other uses for it from charging her phone to plugging in a small electric cooler. Very durable and powerful item.

  • Wiring Safety Issue
Style: 2000W Modified Sine
The media could not be loaded. I purchased the Ampeak 2000 watt inverter and remote. This inverter had a design issue that forced me to return it as I felt it would be unsafe to leave installed in my RV due to the standard wiring conventions not being followed on all 3 plugs. Detailed explanation below and in video. In my case I was trying to wire it into my RV so that I could easily flip a switch and feed the inverter into two different circuits. One was for the auxiliary outlets so I could use a coffee maker with it. The other circuit was for the microwave. The inverter seemed to work fine when I bench tested it so I installed it in the RV and wired up 3-way switches so I could switch back and forth between shore power and the inverter. First circuit went fine and everything worked but when I installed the second circuit I got an OOP indication for an overload condition. Thinking I had wired something wrong I went back through all of my wiring and everything seemed to be fine until I plugged in both circuits to the inverter and it would cause the hot and neutral to be shorted together. Further investigation found that two of the plugs on the inverter have the hot and neutral swapped from normal convention. Now this isn't something most people would notice if they had individual appliances connected. In my case going through the circuit breaker panel it ties the neutral and hot together since the neutrals are all tied together in the panel. Being a retired electrical engineer I figured I could just pull the front panel and swap the leads on the plugs but what I found was the plugs were soldered into a circuit board so there is no way to swap them and also leads me to believe they are all wired that way which could be a safety hazard or cause a failure like I experienced. I also contacted their customer support and the phone number listed on the website was out of order. I did get a response from an email and while it contained a lot of nice words about how they were there to help they wanted videos to show the inverter working and not working to pass on to their technical staff. I sent them that along with the explanation of what was wrong. Their "technical staff" still couldn't understand it so asked for an additional video showing something different. At that point I was done with their stall tactics of asking for meaningless videos so I decided to return the inverter. While I could make this inverter work by changing my wiring to match their incorrect layout I don't want electronics in my RV where the design has a blatant flaw like this and the technical staff can't understand what is wrong or catch it in the first place. Their last email did say to return the product but nothing about a replacement so I will be ordering a different brand of inverter. I read a lot of reviews but very seldom write one. This time I feel the need to warn people about a design flaw or at least give others the reason they would see the same problem I had. If you watch the video it will fully explain what the problem is. ... show more

  • Works really well
Style: 2000W Pure Sine
I like that it has three plugs. I do not like that it has very small grounding nut next to the terminals. I didn’t have a wrench or a socket that small and it was very hard to get the nut tight. My needle nose pliers kept slipping off and there wasn’t much room to get a good angle on it.
