  • Beautiful printings with this filament
Color: 1kg-silk Gradient Red Gold (Darker Version) Size: 1KG
I am replacing a roll I have had for almost 3 years. It isn't cheap so I don't use it all the time. Keeping it dry and bagged the filament has stood upntonthe years and printed beautifully in my new AD5M at 220. Sadly I ran out of filament before finishing the top to this box.

  • One of my favorites
Color: 1kg-silk Gradient Azure Blue Size: 1KG
I love this filament so much. It is so well priced easy to use. Good flow rate and quality good bed adhesion and a very nice color. My only complaint would be the shipping time. It takes a while for it to get here so I have to order in advance.

  • Beautiful filament very poorly wound **UPDATED**
Color: 1kg-silk Gradient Azure Blue Size: 1KG
**Update. A few days after leaving this review Amolen contacted me. They were keen on making it right with me. I did not ask for nor expect anything from them in relation to the review. However after their contact, they wanted to be sure I was happy with my purchase. They went above and beyond what I would expect of any company and did so of their own accord. I can't say that my issue wasn't perhaps an isolated event, however they made up for it and as such I am revising this review and rating to 5 stars for the stellar customer service they provided. I have since used a couple other colors I purchased from them that are not suffering the same issues.** I print on a Bambu X1C. I very rarely have issues from spools. I bought about 15 spools of AMOLEN in one purchase from Amazon as they have some really amazing colors. But this has to be the single worst spool winding company there is. I get 10-20 failures per hour of printing when the spool hangs up. Yes, I use the Bambu AMS for my spools but no other manufacturer's products hang up like this one. It's like they have an 8 year old in charge of the spool winding process and pay no attention to doing it the right way. It's a real shame too, as they have some of the best looking multicolor filaments on the market. I'm hoping that this is just a single spool issue, but I have yet to break into the other 14 spools and see how they'll work or not work. I am hoping for the best, preparing for the worst. ... show more

  • Good value for sample materials
I bought this sample pack to test out AMOLEN's products. I've printed a few parts with each sample spool. I used the same bed temperature for each spool, 65C initial layer, 60C for the rest of the print. Winding was good except for the marble, and that was only for some outer windings. Silk Copper: This was my most successful of the four sample materials. I printed a temperature tower, small keychain for my wife and a T-Rex skull. I used a print temperature of 200C for the keychain and skull. Adhesion was great and the parts came off with small amount of effort after the bed cooled. I printed at 0.12mm layer thickness for the skull and it looks amazing! I used 0.2mm layer height for the keychain and tower and they're both smooth with no defects. You'll see some stringing in the temp tower and skull, this might be remedied with some print settings. Silk Gold: This was by far my most difficult material. I tried printing at 200C with 0.3mm nozzle but after about 30 layers it would clog up. I switched to a 0.4mm nozzle and it lasted a little longer. I ended up printing a temp tower after trying IronMan four times. I made some adjustments and semi-successfully printed Iron Man the fifth time. He was still really stringy and the detail wasn't that great, this could be due to scaling it too small. I ended up using a print temp of 215C. This filament was pretty brittle compared to the other three and snapped on me once while switching it out. Marble-like: I didn't have too many issues with this material. I printed a test cube and Minas Tirith (a city from Lord of The Rings) at 200C and it behaved well, but there was quite a bit of stringing on the city that I had to clean up. Otherwise, the part looks great! The spool was wound pretty bad for the outer windings and bound up a bit as the city printed. The inner windings look better though. Glow in the dark: This was the most fun to print with so far. I printed Zero from Nightmare Before Christmas for my daughter. The nose and collar were printed from orange and red PLA. I printed the glow in the dark at 200C and it was REALLY stringy. I super glued the parts together (Gorilla Glue brand) and they stick together great. The material glows really well, especially if it gets direct sunlight. ... show more

  • Tangled Spool
Color: 1kg-silk Gradient Red Gold (Darker Version) Size: 1KG
I got this spool in 2022. First time I tried to use it, I had problems with layer adhesion and extruding. Tried all sorts of temps (including the recommended ones listed right there on the spool) I have a flash forge adventure 3. For the life of me I could not get it to adhere properly to the print bed and anything remotely salvageable looked terrible. Not good for any sort of detail work / anything “complicated” Second time I used it, it clogged so horribly I had to replace the printer head on my printer because I could not clear the clog at all. (Trust me, I tried everything) and I also had to replace the tube & coupling that fed the filament into the printer head. This clog was so bad I had to disassemble the feed assembly as well. Had it not been for the ease of getting flash forge parts from there site and how easy it is to pull the printer appart, it would have killed my printer irreparably. I tossed it in a bag with oxygen absorbers and promptly ignored it, and basically dubbed it the cursed spool. I’ve learned a lot since that point and decided to touch the cursed spool again. I decided to print off a very simple print that many other of my “difficult” filaments from other manufacturers seemed to do really well with. I recognize that “silky” filaments are notorious to be difficult but I have others from different manufacturers and *never* had a problem like this one. I DID NOT REALIZE THE ENTIRE SPOOL WAS A KNOTTED TANGLED MESS. I regret not returning this when I had initially got it, but that was primarily due to my inexperience at the time. It was among some of the first filaments I had gotten and didn’t know better. I some how managed to get a print out of it (it’s a split color, so the first 15 layers of the print are in an entirely different filament) and you can see how deep that tangle of filament ran on the spool. Then I looked deeper into the roll. You can literally see it runs throughout the entire roll how tangled the whole thing is. ... show more
