    • Wood filament can be tricky, but this is the best
Color: Wood-walnut
Prints best for me on a 0.6mm nozzle at 205c, at between 40 to 80mm/s (averaged at about 45mm/s). As other folks have said, this and all wood filaments produce stringing. The best that you can do is get your temperature and retraction settings dialed in well. You’ll want to print this filament on the cooler side, as hotter tends to cause heat creep and jams quite a bit more than normal PLA. I usually print PLA at 215c, but as mentioned previously, print Amolen’s wood PLAs at 205c. While I have had luck using a 0.4mm nozzle, I have had a few prints fail without much of an indication as to why. Each time resulted in a jam. However, I haven’t had any jams when printing this filament on a 0.6mm nozzle. Also thought that I’d mention that I have had fairly good luck with this filament performing well despite sitting outside of a closed space with desiccant. I am currently printing using a spool that has been sitting on a desk for nearly a year, and it is printing the same as when it was new. Note that in my experience, there is some slight color variance between batches. I’ve bought the same type of wood filament from Amolen a few times, each instance many months after the last. Each time there’s been a very small color difference, but hey, it’s wood. Can’t expect every tree (or, I’m sure, the dye that is added) to be the same. All in all, best wood filaments that I’ve used from any vendor. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This review is for the Multi-Color Glow in the dark (5m color change) PLA filament..... I will talk about the glow–affect as well, but 1st... Most importantly, this stuff prints amazingly smooth! I did not have to tweak my settings, AT ALL! I have a guider2 printer and use a .4mm micro swiss plated wear resistant nozzle. I used the hottest suggested setting, 220°C, as I’ve noticed in my personal experience that glow in the dark filament tends to like to be printed a little hotter. The heated bed was set to 50°C. I did not use a raft, however I always use a brim to help Adhesion. I also always use a glue stick. Cooling fan on 100% and 100% of the Print. I changed my shell count to 4, Top solid layer 4, bottom solid layers 4. The following are all the STANDARD PLA print slicer settings that my flash forge slicer auto recommends when you select PLA for the material. I’m only including it in case someone with another slicer has a different profile set up: -15% infill with a hexagon pattern -Base print speed 60mm/s -travel speed 80mm/s -first few layers max speed 30mm/s -again, fan always ON at 100% speed Now as for THE GLOW.... i’m not sure how I feel about the glow effect. I’ve included pictures of what the glow initially looks like after one hour of charging under a UV light. It’s rather bright. However, my iPhone camera picks up more of the actual color than you can actually see in real live viewing. Maybe it’s the brightness of the glow tends to make the color blend together? No, because the dimmer the glow effect got as it released the charge, I saw the same dull “actual colors”. Although you CAN see a difference in color, it is a very muted difference (The colors are not bold or vibrantly colored at all)...... The other thing I’m torn on, is the timing of the glow itself. As you can see in the first picture, as soon as I removed it from its light source, (regardless of the muted color issue) it was very bright! However, as you’ll see in the second picture (because I took a screenshot of the picture itself so it would include the time-stamp of when I took each picture... look on the very top of each pic) that “very bright glow” VERY QUICKLY (6 minutes later) faded into almost one color. A very dim one color at that. Again another six minutes later, the camera would not even pick up any color-glow at all. HOWEVER! I could still very clearly see a dim glowing green in real life viewing. And that green glow was actually STILL THERE in the morning when I woke up! Which was actually quite impressive! So I guess my take away from the entirety of this filament is (and this is only if this is exactly how this filament is intended to print and GLOW... not just a bad GLOW Batch): I 100% love how this stuff prints! It does in fact have different colors, but they are not very distinctive and do NOT last long when glowing. And again, I was 100% impressed at how LONG the GREEN-GLOW ended up actually glowing for! If the colors were more vibrant as advertised, I would’ve given this review 5⭐️Stars. ... show more

Ill start off with what my printer is, its a Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro with 200C temp and 60C hotbed settings at 50mms. Ill start off with the Pro's Pros: It looks nice Its very flexible, and bendy, doesnt seem brittle at all and will tend to bend and not snap. Mild stringing even at high humidity. Excellent vase mode quality with excellent layer to layer adhesion (even on failed prints the layers stick to themselves very well). Now for the Cons: Dont print the articulated crystal dragon, ANY of them, or anything even LIKE it, EVER. If its a detailed print in place object, brim or no brim, adhesion layer, supports wont help. Just dont and ill explain why. One of the biggest issues ive had is when it needs to retract, now this could be mitigated if you dry it, but you can only do that so many times. What this filament wants to do is puff up, and it will want to do that inside the extruder which is not too much a problem if its constantly extruding. (which is why vase mode works perfectly). This filament prints large prints pretty well and really loves builds that have constant extrusion. It hates anything that requires a lot of retractions and replacements of filament. The deer head that is shown as the example is also funny enough a good example of what you should be printing with it. Ill put some final thoughts and keep in my I only had two filaments and this is one of them so far and this is my first printer. Bed Adhesion 3.5/5 doesnt like the first layer sometimes. Layer to Layer Adhesion 5/5 (it sticks to itself very well) water absorption 4/5 (like a sponge) Flexibility 5/5 (almost acts like flexible filament if its thin enough) Its finnicky, hard to dial in and sometimes does amazing prints and sometimes hates you. ... show more

    • The Wood PLA Is Hydroscopic

While I like the way the first prints turned out, I'm a bit bothered that none of my research told me this stuff was so hydroscopic. By the second week of being opened I started getting a different color when printing and the material was more brittle. Overall, I recommend but try to print this spool out within a week or so. ... show more
