  • What a GLOW!
Before we get started let's just get my setup out of the way so you know where I'm coming from. Ender 3 (not pro) SKR Mini E3 v1.2 Flexible Magnetic Build Plate (Creality Official) BMG Clone Extruder Cura Slicer with CHEP 4.7.X(Good) 0.2mm Profile. Alright so let's get into the meat of this review. When it comes to my printer I always wanted to try glow in the dark filament but was always worried that it wouldn't look good. Plain and simple, I'm glad I was wrong. Main thing to say is the glow works MUCH better when exposed to sunlight. I think it's the UV rays that is causing it to soak up so much energy so one day I want to try this with a black light. Temperature: I couldn't find a "best" temperature for it, everything from 180-210 or so seemed to look great which is a good thing. Means you don't have to worry about things looking weird and don't really just have to look for anything when it comes to the temperature. Just set it to 200c for the nozzle and 60c for the bed and you're good to go. Color: If you think you're getting a blue filament that glows blue don't. It's white under normal light but you get it in the dark and it glows a mighty blue. Just look at the pictures I posted. There are no filters. Just left them out in the sun for a few minutes, took them in a completely dark room, and took a picture. I really didn't expect the glow to be so bright honestly. It was a very pleasant surprise. I need to find some outdoor applications to use this in so that dusk looks even cooler outside my house. The white itself looks good and is even a little transparent. It could make a good surprise if you were to give a gift to someone who likes blue and they think you gave them a white item only for it to glow blue in the future. Adhesion: I'm starting to think the cheap filament I had before was what was causing them not to adhere to my bed but the 3 most recent filament's I have gotten have stuck well, though it may also be the new springs I got too. Layers stuck well to each other as well as to the bed. No layer shifting from anything and it didn't pop off mid print to ruin everything. No complaints when it comes to this category. Packaging: Came in a normal box with the flip open tab for easy storage as well as a sealed metallic zipper bag. Filled it with air and gave it a press to see if any air was leaking out and it wasn't so I went ahead and placed a few extra desiccant packs in there because I want to make sure this filament stays good till I use it all. I like the spindle itself. I don't know if AMOLEN's other filament's come on clear spindles as well or if this is it because the filament is a little translucent. Overall: I have 0 complaints and just can't stop raving about this. I'm hoping one day they have a glow in the dark purple and once they do I'm buying immediately. Next I hope I can get my hands on the shiny glow green (looks like it has chunks of EXTRA glowy pieces in it) and the color change ones one day. Cheers! ... show more

  • Glows blue in the (very) dark
First of all, print quality is top notch. If this stuff jams your hot end, don't use a printer you got in a box of cracker jacks. I printed at 220C and it's a nice matte clear color when not glowing. On to the good stuff. I couldn't tell this stuff was glowing until I had my room nearly pitch black. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't brighter, but not really enough to dock a star. If you look at the pictures, you'll see the glow level in the very dark room, glow level in a mostly dark room, and lights on. You can see that in the mostly dark room (middle picture) that it hardly glows at all, but there's definitely a blue tinge to it. I haven't gotten a chance to use the fluorescent orange since there's so little of it, I want to save it for something really great. I expect it will print just as flawlessly. As an "only port in the storm" option for glow blue, I'd definitely buy more of this, but I'd love to see a stronger glow. @AMOLEN, please go talk to the guys at 3D Solutech and ask how they're making their green. It's a world away from this stuff. ... show more

  • Damaged in shipping? Always check your orders immediately.
Color: Glow-green
The media could not be loaded. [UPDATE] I changed my rating from 1 star to 5 because I received a message from Amolen this morning apologizing and offering a refund! Wow, the seller offering me a refund for an obvious shipping issue. Really outstanding customer service. I'll be ordering another roll. Thank you, Amolen. I was really dissapointed this morning. I like Amolen filament. This is the fifth roll I've purchased. The other three Amolen glow in the dark colors that I ordered at the same time (blue, red, yellow) all print just fine, but they arrived separately the day before this roll. I just opened this (a week past the close of the return window, of course) and as I was putting it on my printer I noticed the spool was warped and the filament had a discoloration. I suspect it got really warm on that side. Everything looked fine when it was inside the package. I never open a roll of filament until I'm ready to use it, but now I think I'll be opening, inspecting, than repackaging in my own bags the day I get them. ... show more

  • Doesn't glow without black light
Color: Glow 5m Rainbow/Green/Blue/Purple
The media could not be loaded. This is only for the glow in the dark PURPLE, we haven't used the other rolls yet After using a black light, it does glow, but seems sort of dim. If using a normal/LED light, it hardly glows. Will update after using the other colors!

  • This filament does NOT glow in the dark anywhere near like represented....AT ALL
I can't provide a photo because it would just be a black image since the filament isn't glowing more than just a few specks. Also, it doesn't show any blue color at all. The specks are a like a greenish silver. The picture they procide clearly shows blue and the title clearly says blue. The picture they show in the item listing has to be edited or something because the filament does not glow like that. We have tried everything. Outside sun, left it under a UV lamp for 30 min and nothing works. It works best when you look at it under the UV lamp...you can actually see a few specks in it then. But the second you turn the lamp off, it's done and it just goes back to it's clearish-black color. So very disappointing. Print quality was fine and bed adhesion was fine. If I just wanted a clear black color, this filament would be fine. But that isn't at all what it's portrayed as and I can get a clear black for much cheaper than this. ... show more
