We purchased a firm TP memory foam mattress that gave me shoulder and hip pain, so we went looking for additional padding. I purchased a TP serenity 3" topper from another store about 18 months ago. It started ripping and tearing pretty much immediately. After rotating it several times, because it broke down so much and my husband always felt like he was in a hole, it tore in half. I always felt like it was too soft/thick, even though it was a pretty dense memory foam. I was having knee and hip pain from the weird angle caused by sinking down so much. We tried putting thin blanket on top to stop the sinking, but it only caused other pain issues and I'd wake with any movement on his part. I debated on several toppers and knew I wanted a 2" next time so the firm mattress could give the support but we'd have just a little cushion on top to ease the pressure points. This has been perfect so far! No ripping or tearing. It seems pretty soft at first, but it's exactly what I wanted. I feel the firm support with the pressure points getting the extra cushion they need. It's been a month now, and since the first night I'm sleeping much better, no more pain. Love it! ... show more

This topper is being used on top of a regular Sleep Number air mattress which is set inside a waterbed frame. Seems like it could be about 3" wider and 3" taller to cover our mattress fully. Maybe our air mattress is slightly oversize? The mattress was fitting queen size fitted sheets nicely so I don't think the mattress is oversized. We did purchase a deep pocket mattress pad cover and fitted sheet to accommodate the added height of the topper. I have found if I sit on the edge of the bed before lying down, when I do lie down I have a tendency to roll to the outside edge of the bed unless I lie more to the center of the mattress. Now I get in immediately, lay down and I immediately feel comfortable with no rolling tendency. My back is less sore in the morning and this is a definite plus since I have severe scoliosis. The topper is very comfortable and has definitely improved the quality of my sleep. The cooling gel-infused memory foam is a great feature, especially during the warmer months. However, I did notice a strong odor when I first unpacked the topper. It took several days for the odor to completely dissipate, which was a bit inconvenient. Just an fyi it will slip on the bed if you have a mite cover over your mattress I suggest you place the pad on the mattress then put them both inside the mattress cover if you have one.

I was skeptical when I saw it because it didn't really hold a shape when I pressed into it. I have been pleasantly surprised. I have had noticable improvements in my lower back pain. No yucky smell. It added mildly firm support to the mattress which was sagging a bit. Just beware that you might need sheets with extra deep pockets. Satisfied to wake up with less back pain. ... show more

    • An answer to my problems!

Earlier last year I bought an expensive new mattress and I absolutely hated it once it arrived in my home. It was supposed to be a plush pillowtop mattress but it is very hard and has never broken in. I *could* have returned it to the store within the guarantee period however, I was going to have to pay a few hundred dollars in fees and be without a mattress. I'm active, in good shape and am a side sleeper and would wake up with terrible hip pains in the night and have trouble sleeping. After looking at many memory foam mattress toppers I decided on this one because the price was reasonable than others and honestly, this seemed to get better reviews than the more expensive toppers. I let it "puff up" for two nights, but I actually don't think it was needed because it seemed to open up to full size out of the box. Granted I've only slept on this for one night, but it was so wonderful not waking up multiple times and trying to get back to sleep with hip pain. I didn't notice sleeping "hot" and with two cats snuggled up with me, if I was going to overheat I would have. If you're experiencing joint pain or just want a more comfy mattress, definitely give this a try. My two cats approve of it too. LOL ... show more
