Have you seen these smart plugs? They're like regular plugs, but with technology! You can control them with your voice through Alexa. It's like having a butler, but without the fancy accent, the money to afford a butler, or the ability to fold a fitted sheet. Just say, "Alexa, turn on the lights," and voila, you're living like a king! Or queen. Or, I don't know, some kind of monarch. Setting them up is also pretty easy - just power on the plug and tell Alexa to discover it. It connects in just a few seconds, and before you know it, you're good to go. And if you're feeling lazy like me, you can control them from anywhere with the Alexa app on your phone. It's like having a magic wand, but instead of casting spells, you're just turning on the lights. One thing I really appreciate is the timer and schedule feature. You can set customized timers to turn your devices on or off, which is pretty great if you're like me and always forget to turn off the lights when you leave a room. It's a good way to save energy, money, and possibly your marriage. Now let's be honest folks, they're not perfect. Who is? Other than puppies anyway. I mean, you need an Alexa device to use them, so if you're not already in the Alexa ecosystem, these might not be for you. And while they're cheap, they do feel a little flimsy and not quite as durable as some other smart plugs out there. I wasn't totally sold on this whole thing when my wife bought them, but I gotta admit, these are pretty slick. I mean, I'm talking "instantly turn off everything in the kids room with your voice" kind of slick. It's like living in the future, but without the hoverboards. Sure, they may not be made of space-age materials or survive a nuclear blast, but for the price, they're a steal. So if you're looking to control your appliances or children with minimal effort and maximum cool factor, these bad boys get a solid 4 out of 5 stars. I like them. They work well. I have 3 of the 4 plugs connected to surge protectors that extend how many outlets I have. Those 3 plugs disconnect about 2 times a day. They don’t turn off so the lights stay on but that means that don’t turn off from my Alexa controlling it. The 4th plug works just fine plugged into the outlet ... show more

These were a breeze to set up. Very straightforward, Alexa found the plugs and they were ready to use. I did have some connection issues as others have stated. But I was able to resolve the issues by moving Alexa closer to the plug, My guess is that the Bluetooth is not quite strong enough to keep the connection alive. It seems the range is about 20 feet or so. My only real complaint is that you can't fit 2 of these plugs in a standard outlet. One per outlet, somewhat limited range, if you can live with that, these are great. ... show more

I almost wrote a review the first day I installed one of these, and I was going to rave about them. I decided to wait a few days, however, and it's good that I did. I have a massive investment in Wemo plugs around my house, all linked to Alexa. Life with those plugs is nothing but frustration -- they go offline and have to be reset on a regular basis, which usually includes unplugging and plugging back in. Not much fun when a lot of them are behind furniture or in hard-to-reach places. I bought these newer Smart plugs based on the great price and the pretty positive reviews. I've replaced 8 Wemos with them so far, and for a few days I though my long nightmare was over. However, I've started to see several of these drop offline too, although with far less frequency than the Wemos. My only conclusion now is that Alexa has something to do with this. All these plugs can't be so bad. Bottom line, though, I highly recommend this plug over Wemo: no Wemo app to deal with up front (with its very cumbersome installation), and no Alexa Skill to deal with when one drops offline. You literally plug it in, turn it on, and say "Alexa, discover devices." Done. In about 60 seconds, the plug shows up in your Alexa App. And this same command generally brings one back online if it drops. Plus -- the price is great! Go for it. ... show more
