  • best ice cream maker
I bought this due to making ice cream all the time for my kids and getting tired of having to put a bowl in the freezer and wait 24 hours. I have used this machine alot since buying it and i will tell you it is well worth the money spent. No waiting for a bowl to freeze just mix your ingredients, pore them in and let the machine due the work. you wont regret buying this. ... show more

  • Good machine, good ice cream
This is a pretty good machine. It is quite heavy, about 33 pounds. It's about the size of a small microwave oven, but heavier. I was really excited to get this machine, as I had been thinking about getting a different ice cream maker, but decided on this one instead. For my first recipe, and maybe my only recipe, I found a stracciatella gelato recipe. This machine is very simple and easy to use. I made my base on the stove, and cooled it a little bit. I might not have had to do that, but since I had to get everything else prepared anyway, it was fine. Once it was time to put the base into the bucket, I realized that the little hatch in the clear lid is a bit small. I poured my ice cream base through the little hatch, and wished it was larger. At the 30 minute mark I was supposed to pour in the melted chocolate for the chocolate chip effect, but since the little hatch was so small, it was pretty difficult. I could take the lid off, but the lid secures the mixing blade. After getting melted chocolate all over the hatch, I did have to stop the machine and try to get the chocolate off of the mixing blade because it's pretty hard to pour and time it so the chocolate doesn't land right on top of the blade. I figured it out, and the next time I make this gelato, it should be easier now that I know how to do it. My gelato came out delicious, so I guess I have a new hobby. I read that these compressor ice cream makers are noisy, but this one is probably quieter than my frozen bucket Cuisinart ice cream machine. Getting the gelato out of the bucket wasn't as difficult as getting it out of the Cuisinart one. I think because the frozen bucket keeps freezing the ice cream makes it difficult to scrape it out. I just pulled the bucket out of the ice cream maker and was able to guide my gelato into the long ice cream container that I have. Really my only wish is that the feed hatch was a bit larger. ... show more

  • Stop searching: you found the best one
The media could not be loaded. I do very few reviews. Unless I feel it's the best, or worst. After months of research I purchased this one. I'm 69 yrs old and money is tight, so I can't waist money on a bad purchase. But I made a great decision. This is the best ice cream maker on the market. With the built in compressor makes it so easy for a old man that loves ice cream. Also much healthier making your own. Plus market ice cream has alot of un natural ingredients. It's very easy, you will love it and so will everyone else. My wife thought I spent money foolishly. But now she loves this machine. Happy wife, happy life. So stop agonizing on what machine to purchase like I did. Order one today. Read instructions that state to unplug unit when not in use. That's because it's a refrigerated compressor unit. It's a awsome ice cream maker. ... show more

  • Makes a good vanilla
This is my first time making ice cream so I don't have other models to compare this to. It's a little bigger and heavier than it looks in the listing so I saved the box so I can store it away between uses since it takes up too much counter space. I went online and found a nice and simple 5 ingredient list for vanilla ice cream and got the ingredients to try this out: · 1½ cups heavy cream · 1½ cups whole milk · ⅔ cup cane sugar · 2 teaspoons vanilla extract · ⅛ teaspoon sea salt. I poured all the items in and hit start. How much more simple can it be? I waited an hour for the cycle to finish. Somewhere around half way through the cycle you could see the ice cream changing from liquid to solid and the blender stopped as the compressor continued chilling the final product. There was only one problem when it was completed. The pail which you remove with all the ice cream was frozen to the machine and would not budge. I was able to remove the plastic blender and scoop out the ice cream but this was certainly more work than anticipated. After it thawed I was able to remove it and clean it. Now there is the possibility that this was my fault since I washed the pail before first use and perhaps I didn't dry it well enough. I'll see what happens on my second batch. Apart from this, the ice cream came out great. I'm looking forward to trying out some other flavors and recipes. ... show more

  • So easy!!
(Perhaps *too* easy...?) I've made 3 batches of frozen goodness so far. One batch of Very Vanilla (pro tip: microwave your vanilla beans for 3-4 seconds. They'll scrape out *so* much easier), a batch of milk chocolate, and a batch of Zoi honey vanilla Greek frozen yogurt. They all came out wonderfully! Others have mentioned the wobbles in using the "keep cold" function. Be sure to take the paddle out! Otherwise you'll have an interesting time dealing with freeing your frozen deliciousness. As someone who grew up hand cranking our summer treats for what seemed like hours, this machine is pretty darned miraculous. As others have mentioned, it isn't small, and it is heavy, so make sure you've got the space and the muscle to give it a good home. ... show more
