I am a handmade jewelry maker and gemstones are on of my favorite things to work with. I am also a fan of tourmaline and since I rarely get my hands on any that was what I chose to order. The beads arrived nicely packaged and a roll of elastic cord was included. The beads came prestrung and I counted 95 of them on my string. The colors are nice and there is quite a variety amongst the beads. They are roughly 4mm but there is some variation in size, though, in my opinion, this only makes each piece of finished jewelry more interesting and unique. The facets look very nice and I honestly like the shape even more than I expected to. Overall the beads have a pretty and delicate look to them, though they are a 7+ on the Mohs scale so they are not exactly fragile. The holes are rather small but they do seem to be fairly uniformly centered. And all of them are also drilled completely through. While, I probably won't use the elastic cord anytime soon I do like the beads and I see many great possibilities for all 95 of them... ... show more

The first thing I noticed about the beads is the color. I ordered the Amethyst, they are extremely dark. At first, I thought they were onyx beads. They are 4mm which I already knew but be advised if you are not used to "mm" bead sizes they are tiny. I do have other Amythist gemstone beads that are lighter in color, like the picture shows. Also, I took off 1 star because of the darker color and also because it looks as though you get many beads. Look at the second picture, you get 1 strand of beads that is about 17 inches long. The other pictures show many strands together. On the plus side, they include some beading string to match the color. The zip-lock package is nice, on the back it has a measurement on bead sizes from 4mm to 10mm. I use a special tool to measure my beads but if you do not own one, they can be helpful.
