The AcuRite indoor outdoor weather station has an outdoor temperature sensor to act as an outdoor thermometer that provides measurements for outdoor temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, and moon phase. The auto-dimming, backlit LCD color display features an indoor temperature thermometer, trend arrows, and daily highs and lows for temperature and humidity. Similar to an atomic clock weather station, AcuRite Intelli-Time technology makes it easy to always know the date and time without adjusting for daylight saving time. This weather clock’s Intelli-Time technology also saves your time in case of a power outage. The home weather station features self-calibrating technology to provide your personal weather forecast 12 hours from your current conditions. The digital outdoor thermometer sensor is powered by two (2) AA alkaline or lithium batteries (not included). This is a very nice weather station. Once you get it set up the way you want it, it performs well. It has almost all the features that I wanted, and they all work as advertised. The temperature readings are accurate, as is the barometric pressure (see below). I never pay much attention to the humidity readings, as those sensors are subject to all sorts of variations (However, after many months of ownership, I find that the humidity readings are helpful, if not perfectly accurate). The only negative that I can think of is that it is not possible to set the clock to the 24-hour format. I like to use the 24-hour format, even though I'm in the USA, but for most users this would not be an issue. Here are some other things that potential buyers might want to know: 1) Setting up most of the features is not particularly difficult, but manually setting up the barometric pressure is a bit of a challenge. Many people won't care about that, but I do. I wanted to set it to the reading at our local airport, and it took me about 15 minutes to get it right. The procedure is addressed in the manual, but it could be explained a little more clearly. (The unit does have a 14-day "learning period" during which, I assume, it's supposed to eventually automatically detect the barometric pressure. I neither wanted to wait, nor did I trust this feature to get it right, so I switched from "automatic" to "manual" to set it myself.) 2) The display is very clear and colorful IF IT IS BELOW EYE LEVEL. The more it is above eye level, the more washed out it will be. In other words, you want to place this weather station where you will be looking down at it. 3) It is unrealistic to expect devices like this to actually forecast the weather. This is tough enough for supercomputers to accomplish. If you want a real weather forecast, go to a weather website or watch the Weather Channel. 4) While the literature never explicitly says so, I believe that the time-date function is tuned to the National Bureau of Standards atomic clock [after months of ownership, I have concluded that this is not so; the clock runs just a little bit fast and has to be manually reset]. There is a separate button battery to power this function, which is why the time and date are correct right out of the box. Of course, you do have to set the time zone and whether or not daylight saving time is used in your area. 5) The product information clearly says that this unit is designed to be plugged in. Do not expect it to be otherwise. The batteries are only for back-up in case of a power failure. Be sure to put in the three AAs so you don't lose all your settings if the power goes out or you have to unplug the unit. 6) Read the manual. ... show more

I've had the home weather station for about 3 months. I like the color, display brightness, and size. The outdoor humidity was way off but the instructions showed how to adjust and now it is fine. I compared the web online humidity with what the weather station was showing and adjusted accordingly. I like how it shows the indoor humidity going down when the furnace is on (drying out the air) in cold weather and higher humidity when the furnace isn't on so much. I also like that it plugs in and has a battery backup. The temperature is accurate. It automatically resets the high and low temperature and humidity at midnight, and I like that. I considered spending more to get one with a wind gauge, but sooner or later wind gauges fail because most are mechanical plus a lot of comments say a wind gauge is what they are most disappointed in. If you want a basic weather station without the hassle of rain or wind gauges, this is a good one. ... show more

The display isn't fantastic and quite disappointing. On the plus side the sensor does read over quote a long distance, so impressed with that. However, even after the calibration period the weather portion is just plain wrong most of the time and is therefore a waste. The temperature and humidity reporting seem fairly accurate and work fine. Bought this unit to replace my old AcuRite which was working fine until I dropped and busted it. This unit has features that the older one did not have, i.e., moon phase and humidity levels. I really like the color screen. The only issue I have with it is that the screen is smaller than my old AcuRite which makes it harder to see from across the room.
