  • Customer Service is vague, still confused about Global Coverage
IDK what to think, the sources online says one thing, the customer service states another. I emailed ACR to find out about the Global Coverage specification on the box. They only told me that I have to register with the US NOAA and completely ignored the question about Global Coverage. I know I need to register it with NOAA, it's stated on the box, and there's 3 pieces of paper in the box that states the same. There's absolutely no information on the Global Coverage statement other than a FAQ on their site that states it's possible to reconfigure the device to another nation but you need to pay a fee. There's also a link that takes you to a site for the registry, but when I inserted my device number, the site denied my access stating the device is not compatible for the service. So no Global Coverage... I bought this device for emergencies, both in the States as well as for International travels where there's no signal or I don't speak the language and is either lost, or in bad situation. It's indeed compact and lightweight. Though I don't like how you can't replace the battery after the expiration date on the device; & will have to buy a brand new $400 device. I have yet to register this device, so it's still in pristine condition. Returning & looking for a better option, unless I can figure out what ACR's Global Coverage entails. ... show more

  • Quality Product
Purchased for my son who is an avid hiker. Hope he never has to use it :) Researched many and glad I purchased this one. He registered it right away and has taken it on a few hikes already.

  • Peace of Mind when traveling
I haven't had to use the unit, so I can't comment on how well it works or not. I did use the test function, and that worked perfectly. Registration was quick and easy, although I'm still waiting for the written confirmation from the Feds that they have the registration information. This provides an additional bit of comfort while I'm out on extended motorcycle trips (9,000 miles over about a four week period this summer). Knowing that if something goes terribly wrong, I have a good chance of being rescued makes traveling seem a bit safer. Nicely packaged system, easy to deploy, and light weight. I do wish they had a couple of other mounting/carrying options. One I borrowed a few years ago had a nice Velcro strap that allowed me to fasten it to my arm. This one lives in the pocket of my jacket. Not quite as easy to get to in an emergency. Between this and the SPOT for tracking my trips, my family and friends know where I am and that I'm safe. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Can't wait to use it!
Actually I hope never to use it, but if the need arose I suspect this unit would be helpful. This replaces a McMurdo Fast Find which I've had for 8 years and never used. The battery in the Fast Find still shows full charge after all these years, but I thought it best to replace and upgrade. Both are fine units, I just appreciated the longer signal life on the ResQLink. The only downside is the belt clip is close to impossible (don't give up) to attach to the unit and for all the trouble the closure on the belt clip is too wide and doesn't stay on your belt or pack. Also, the antenna can and does deploy when thrown in a bag or pack. Not a big deal, just an inconvenience. ... show more

  • Not super clunky but heavier than the average cell phone
I couldn't give any stars for the battery life because I just got it , I assume it's battery will last like it says. This was very easy to register online . The instructions were very simple on how to use it . As far as I know it will work , i did run the test and it passed. Size wise it's about like a small version of the old clunky cell phones and not super heavy but heavier than the average cell phone . I'd say worth the money for the peace of mind. I think anyone that goes out on the water should have one of these . Things can go very wrong very quick. ... show more

  • Everyone should have one on life jackets, on snowmobile, jet ski, boat, Etc
Accidentally stepped on life jacket it was attached to hunting Arkansas River in middle of nowhere at 4 AM. At 4:05 a.m. Coast Guard in Destin Florida where I live called checking on me and knew my location. They save lives. Only reason for 4 stars is the activation switch could use a more robust cover to help prevent accidental activation. If you can afford a new fishing pole you need to buy this first ... show more

  • Great
But also make sure not to confuse the manufacture date (to the immediate right of the uin and in black on white) with the battery life (black on yellow)....wasn't very visible when I went to register the product. If you register any product ever, this is one not to skip. You might not know what kind of product you have. They changed the website so the warranty registration was under a link leaving me to wonder how current the product was. Glad to find out it exp in 2026, not 2020 ... show more

  • Small Price for Peace or Mind
Great for peace of mind. Anywhere in the world, any time, you’ll be found if you can see the sky. So please don’t activate it indoors, it must see the skies to see the satellites. As for the guy who strapped it to his jet ski, this made is for terrestrial endeavors. And while it will float, it’s only made for water pressures found at the water surface. They have beacons for marine use. You might as well complain about your jet ski conking out when riding on land. Pick right tool for the right job. ... show more
