  • Works properly now
For being a gps this thing doesn't find way too many addresses. And they aren't even weird addresses, they're just normal business addresses that are on Google maps. -Updated to five stars because I can now send the gps addresses from my phone. It never worked before and then one day I tried again and it worked so that's been very helpful. I've had this garmin for almost two months now and I drive a semi truck so I put a lot of addresses into it. When it finds them it's great. I do make sure to keep it updated. This is my only complaint and the only reason for two stars. ... show more

  • Garmin is the superior GPS
You can make the argument that Rand McNally makes a GPS that is “just as good if not better.” I’ve used both, ran them side by side across the country. I, personally, would say the Rand McNally are just as good in regards to mapping. Only because they both are pretty good but both will also make mistakes. I did have some issues with the Rand McNally blacking out at random, and freezing up. Tech support was difficult to get hold of and I got the typical “did you try unplugging it and plugging it back in?” So I exchanged it and still had some issues and decided to stay with Garmin. What sets Garmin above others, in my opinion, is the quality/reliability of the product and their customer service. I had a unit go out on me after 5 years of constant use. When I called in (initially for tech support) I was greeted by an English speaking American. So much easier to communicate with each other the information needed to resolve the issue. When all was said and done, my old gps was toast but my new one was on my doorstep within just a couple days. Made in America, employing Americans and standing behind their product is what makes me a loyal Garmin customer. ... show more

  • I really like it. I had a Tomtom gps it was very slow. This garmin calculates in seconds.
The only problem I have is it isn’t able to find some addresses. It’s annoying. I read the reviews and people said the same thing. I think what’s going on is I’m not looking up the Address precisely enough. For instance. I was looking for a company its address was Bridgeport Nj. It repeatedly said could not be found. When I looked under Logan township it came up immediately.Bridgeport is in Logan township. Otherwise I like it. It’s ten times better than my old Tomtom.also for some reason when you speak to it the device seems to be able to find more address than when you enter the address. ... show more

  • Useful
It was hard to set up without a laptop. I had to use a laptop to update the devices software and to download the maps. Other than that, it’s really helpful. I like that you can call someone from your contacts on the GPS itself and even access music! Very modern calculator. Perfect for truckers and anyone who’s constantly on the road. ... show more

  • Disappointed again
Just like the last two Garmin GPSs I bought, I regret it. It takes over your phone and consumes a tremendous amount of data and battery and, even though you change the settings everyday, it's still wants to receive your calls, it's still wants to show you text messages on the screen, even though you turn that option off.... and it's just clunky and cumbersome. But, I have tried Rand McNally as well, and it didn't have near the quality of GPS guidance that Garmin does, so it's a toss up, do you want a great routing system or do you want all the goodies that go with a higher end GPS? I bought the nicer Garmin trucker GPS and after a month of trying to work with it, I finally just turned off the things that I truly bought it for, traffic notifications and weather notification because when you access that, you allow that device to just take over everything and you constantly have notifications at the top of your phone warning you that the Garmin GPS is using an excessive amount of battery. I'm disappointed that Garmin has the broadest offerings for truck drivers when it comes to GPS, dash cams and headsets, but their technology and intuitiveness behind the screen seems to be very lacking compared to their competitors. ... show more

  • Very good
This is a good GPS. I would always choose Garmin over other brands. My old gps was also a Garmin which I have it to my nephew and he is still using it without any issues. My only problem with this one was it only shows truck stops/parking areas within 200-300 miles in the what’s ahead menu. This doesn’t help if you are driving 500-600 miles a day and you want to plan where you are going to sleep at night ones you start driving. ... show more

  • Super frustrating
Honestly wish I hadn't missed the return window, I'd be trying something else (bought this as it pairs with the Garmin ELD). Took me through a crowded residential neighborhood for no reason and put me right back on the street I was already on, then told me to enter the freeway when I'm driving in between a field and a public school. Have had several instances of terrible instructions (leading me down a dead end road for example). When it works, it's fine. When it doesn't, I'm calling it every name in the book. Also I'm not 100% sure it's the culprit, but pretty sure this thing is draining my battery like twice as much as normal. Buyer beware ... show more
