I purchased this access panel to make my cable splitters that are in the wall more accessible. I have two splitters in the wall, the main splitter for the tv's and modem and one that takes the cable tv signal to the bedrooms. Occasionally the cable company shows up and says they are chasing noise on the line and they have to see my connections. Twice in the past 8 years they have had to replace a splitter. I had a piece of plywood over the hole, but I have since moved furniture and it was no longer covered by the furniture. I searched for a solution and found this. To install I laid this backwards against the wall and traced the inside of the access square. When I cut the hole in the drywall I cut on the outside of the line. I had a keyhole saw, but a steak knife would work. This cut allowed the frame to fit snugly in the wall. I used heavy duty construction adhesive around the perimeter of the frame and spread it out with a popsicle stick. I made sure to get the glue on both the flat frame as well as a small amount on the side of the frame. Once I pressed the frame into the wall, the glue filled in any imperfections in the cut of the drywall. After a few minutes I placed the door into the frame. Since no screws were needed to fasten the frame, I did not have to be near any studs. The frame looks fine as is, but it is listed as paintable so it will be painted in the future when the room is repainted. ... show more

A plumber had to do a repair in our garage. He had to remove some drywall. He left without repairing the hole and gave me a sizable bill. Either I had to repair the drywall or find a cover that fit the hole. I went with the latter. Good price and it was easy to install.

Product was exactly as described. It works perfectly it was super easy to secure the wall using adhesive. Just make sure you cut your hole between the studs if you make part of your hole along the stud, you'll have approximately 1/8 Gap but it's really not that big a deal.

I bought these to replace some rusted commercial grade covers. These barely covered the existing hole as they are much smaller. The seller pictures shoe the vents being 14" across on the outside and 13" on the interior for the cutout. I've attached photos of the covers I received showing the discrepancy in size. They are actually 13" vents, an inch smaller than advertised. Also, the only way to install these is with glue. They are not thick enough to use screws internally from inside the door.
