  • Doesn't stay closed
Color: Chrome
I have it in for now just to have something. but I'll have to replace it. It is not strong enough at all to keep the weight up. Once it's in position the slightest jarring with make the lever fall and the tub drain to close. Not much better than the faulty one I had. Will not buy this brand again, do not recommend. ... show more

  • Update: Screws already rusting! Older comment: It’s a decent replacement at a good price.
Color: Chrome
Update: I hardly had this long enough and the screws already are rusting? The rest of the unit is fine but clearly the screws are NOT good. They should include stainless screws in my opinion. I may try to contact Amazon to see if they will address the issue and report if they do. Dropped from 5 stars to 2. First you need to know this product is brass covered in chrome. That is exactly what the package reads if you purchase it from Amazon. I have no clue why some people said it was cheap and plastic unless they got it from a third party possibly? It fits as it should and if you apply some Vaseline to the spring and ball it will operate more smoothly while inhibiting rust and oxidation. It’s a tricky job getting the cotter pin in depending on you plumbing setup. But not impossible. You also may have rotted screws. If this is the case you can drill an offset hole next to the broken one if you cannot get the old broken one out. This works and you hardly notice the offset. Apply some silicone or similar sealer to the top part that meets the tub and some on the screws to avoid issues in the future. I would buy again, best price for a decent part. ... show more

  • An Economical Replacement Cover (With Control Lever) for Bathtub Overflow Drain
Color: Chrome
This review relates to: (1) the Pfister bathtub drain plug, with accompanying connecting rods (these appear to be of similar dimensions to the old ones), and (2) the DANCO bathtub drain overflow cover plate with built-in trip lever. The overflow plate and associated spring that retains the trip lever in up or down position are of non-ferrous material, which may resist corrosion (see picture). If the existing parts are intact, they can be removed by simply unscrewing the two crews that attach the cover plate to the tub, and pulling the cover, connecting rods and drain plug out of the tub. If there is any damage, it is likely to be breakage or disintegration of the existing connecting rods--especially at joints, where friction can cause wear. If the connecting rods are worn out or broken, it may be necessary to extract the plug with an old coat hanger wire with the end bent to form a large hook, or some similar contrivance. Be sure to save all the old parts. You may need to use some of them in the reassembly. Several reviewers have commented on diameter disparities between old and replacement plugs (and disparities in height and weight may also be an issue)--this applies to other brands as well as Pfister. Our old Briggs plug (probably 67 years old, like the house) was pretty raunchy, but after cleaning with sandpaper, emery cloth and polish, it looks almost as good as new. The Pfister plug was approximately 1 mm smaller in diameter than old one. It probably would have leaked. So I chose to re-use the Briggs plug. In the reassembly, the biggest challenge is inserting the cotter pin that attaches the connecting rod yoke to the trip lever. This is very difficult (but possible!). The Pfister hardware includes a cotter pin, but it is extremely difficult to get this (already bent out of shape) cotter pin through the openings in the yoke and the trip lever. The DANCO cover plate comes with a new (unbent) cotter pin, which can simplify the attachment of these parts. Note that, once the yoke has been attached to the trip lever, the threaded upper rod should be screwed into (or out of) the yoke in order to obtain the correct distance between the trip lever and the plug. After this is done, the nut on the threaded rod should be tightened against the yoke so as to hold the loop on the upper connecting rod in a horizontal position. This will permit the lower connecting rod to pivot freely where it meets the upper rod; and the lower rod’s connection to the plug should also be at a right angle, for the same reason. Once all the connecting rod connections have been made, it should be easy to slide the plug back down into its operating position. DANCO provides two screws with the cover plate, but these were too long for our tub. So it was necessary to use the old screws, although it would be possible to cut the screws to shorter lengths with a hacksaw. ... show more

  • Rusting Screws
Color: Chrome
I installed this six months ago and the screws are already badly rusting. The prior screws were in there for years without any sigh of rust. One photo shows the six month old rusted screws that came with this item. The other photo shows the five year old screws after I reinstalled them - I'm glad I kept them. ... show more

  • Replaced original overflow in my Jacuzzi that I broke.
Color: Chrome
I broke the original overflow valve in my Jacuzzi. The plunger was getting stuck, my wife was jiggling the lever to unstick it, causing the wire to go out of alignment. So when jiggling it no longer work she told me. When I tried to move the lever and it wouldn't budge, rather than stopping and taking apart the faceplate, I tried to force it by jiggling as well. Apparently, I jiggle much harder than my wife. I wound up snapping the lever clean off.I Tried to find a square plate like the original, but no luck, so decided to give this a try. So happy that it fits, covers the original hole entirely and screw placement s are an exact match. Used original screws as those included are a bit short.I We've been using it for a month and it does not stick and the chrome hasn't faded. Easily wiped clean. My wife gets to enjoy her baths and remains relatively calm, meaning I have less stress, everyone wins ... show more

  • KEEP THE OLD BOLTS TO USE WITH THIS DEVICE
Color: Chrome
I ordered this as a combo with the trip lever. The old trip lever was stuck I could not remove it. So, I fastened the overflow plate, anyway. It went on easily. I added some clear calking. REMEMBER TO KEEP THE OLD BOLTS. The bolts did not work for my old tub. I just used the old ones.
