There is no template, and none is needed. Square it and use the actual panel opening and draw some lines following the inside opening. Don't cut the hole too big, it needs some compression to hold it in place, or use some double-sided tapes. Better if the hole is between studs, it goes w/o saying. I used it to reach the back of my refrigerator plug, in case of a blackout. i tied the power cord of the fridge with a zip tie to an eyelet, screwed it into the stud. See pics. I ended up using this panel door to get access to the dryer vent hose behind the dryer. I had built a wooden shelf around the dryer which o e side was wood and the other side was up against a wall. So trying to get the vent hose on and then push dryer back was a challenge. So I cut a hole in the wood and put this panel in place and it made the job so much easier. I didnt even glue it in place, it fit like a glove. The price was good for the size and its a good quality product.     • Hinge pin snapped off

Our waste line going from the house to septic had to be replaced and the contractor had to cut a bigger opening to have access. I decided to open the hole up to 22x22 inches for any future maintenance. When trying to take the door out of the frame, one of the hinge pins snapped off. I decided to go ahead and install the door anyway since it snaps in on all sides and the hinges aren't needed. The inside flange of the frame is only about 3/4 of an inch so the holes aren't deep enough to hit the studs. I used some silicon around the frame for fastening. I wouldn't really recommend buying one of these due to the hinge pin snapping off. However, it is cheap compared to the metal alternative. ... show more
