Arguably I bought this because the strap was blue. My restoration is a white and blue theme. It is a really nice winch, no complaints. The mounting hardware is nice, the holes lined up exactly with the holes on my trailer. Easy peasy.

I'm mounting this on a small 4x7 trailer I pull with my tractor. I wanted the winch to help pull heavy loads into the trailer. I kind of wish the strap was a bit longer but it's easy enough to hook to a chain or something and make up what's needed. The strap has a bit of stretch to it which has pros and cons. I wanted a strap style winch instead of a cable for the extra width and the bit of stretch I expected. Metal on this is sufficiently thick and strong enough. I don't know how the coating will hold up yet, time will tell. I'm a believer in keeping things sprayed/lubed that's going to sit outside anyways. Overall, i'm happy with this so far. ... show more

I have reviewed a few very similar boat trailer winches, and this one does stand out just a little from the others. Quality: I would rate the quality of this winch as good. Unlike a couple other winches I have reviewed, this one was assembled correctly using quality parts, and the finish looks decent, but not perfect. The one difference is the handle. The other guys all used a bolt with a nut to secure the handle - many of which were loose. This one uses a solid steel shaft that is “riveted” to the flat metal bar. The handle is also much more comfortable in the hand. Functionality: The winch functions as it should. It has a 4:1 ratio, and allows for both forward and reverse ratcheting capability. It also has a freewheel setting to allow the strap to be pulled out without having the ratchet engaged. Recommendation: Overall, I am satisfied with this winch. As a Vine reviewer, I often select similar items from different manufacturers which allows me better insight into specific products. This is the fourth 1600# boat trailer winch I have reviewed, and it is the best so far. The price is a little higher than the others, but I have no problem recommending this item. ... show more
