We got this because we weren't sleeping well due to this continued heat. You can Definitely tell a difference with the cooling it has. It is extremely soft, so if you are used to a hard mattress this won't work well for you. We prefer the cloud style so this fit right in!

*picture includes fitted jersey sheet overlay* From the box: The mattress arrived and was vacuumed packed inside a medium box. It fluffed up really well on its own but I left it overnight for maximum effect. I initially planned to wash before putting on the bed but the padding is so thick that I knew it would not fit in my home washing machine. Luckily, there weren’t any chemical smells, or any discernible odor for that matter. My situation: I have an older pillow top mattress with a 2 inch gel foam pad, and a bamboo “cooling” pad (that neither of us ever thought was cooling). I thought I would have to remove the gel pad for this to fit but the pockets are soooooo deep that it fit over all of that! I love the squishy gel pad but the bearded boyfriend is one of those sweats-for-no-reason types and he struggles to sleep through the night. I was hoping this new pillowy mattress topper would offer him a better quality of sleep, which in turn would offer me a better quality of sleep. The bad: It crinkles. If it didn’t crinkle, the ever so slowly sinking part would be more pleasant. But it crinkles like a plastic mattress protector or hospital bed. This is probably great for protecting the mattress but deducts from the luxury experience. Also…I do not believe this is an effective cooling pad. Possibly related to the crinkle? I’m not sure but I actually got warm the first night, and unlike the bearded boyfriend, I am never warm. It did not last, which is good and a little awesome for me. When I first get into bed, I get warm but I don’t wake up hot. I have a theory that the plushiness and trapped air allow for some body heat to escape or allows some air. Kind of like the difference between just sitting on a bleacher bench with no back and leaning against an outdoor chair with a back. The back of the chair makes you sweat faster than nothing on the back. Lastly, this topper is not really form fitting or supportive. The memory foam mattresses/pads mold to the body so you can sleep from any position. But this topper has so much give that nothing really fills in the gaps of the lower back or side. I didn’t notice this until a few nights in but then I realized my back just feels tired when I get of bed when it didn’t before. The good: This thing is so poofy and plush that it feels like I covered my bed in pillows! It is so thick that it literally raised the height of the bed. When I climbed up and plopped down, I could feel myself ever so slowly sinking into the cocoon of cotton. It feels like sleeping in an air hug! And, because of the little square chambers, the plush padding will hold its shape and prevent uneven lumpiness overtime. The price of $89.99 seems really reasonable for the thickness of the pad as well. I’ve had more expensive pads that weren’t even half the thickness of this one. Lastly, the pockets are so deep that I can’t imagine this topper wouldn’t fit on top of any type of mattress. The recommendation: Favorable! If you are looking for extra soft and thick, you can’t go wrong with this but steer clear if you prefer to sleep on really firm surfaces. I also wouldn’t recommend to anyone that needed to wash it often because it will take the extra large machine at a laundromat to launder. But $89.99 is way cheaper than a new mattress so if it is definitely worth a shot to improve your quality of sleep on an older mattress! ... show more

I've had my extra bedroom mattress for a couple of years now and was looking for something to revamp it up a bit, this looked super plush and cloud like on the photos and mentioned it's good for bad backs, which my daughter has , so I was excited to try it out. It says to give it some time to fully expand ,so I left it out overnight in my living room in hopes to allow it to fully reach the cloud like photos, unfortunately I didn't necessarily have that experience I wasn't giving up on it though and tried to start fluffing each square up as you would a pillow and even though it was a bit of a pain and time consuming it definitely gave me more of the desired effect and ended up being super easy to put on the bed and looks like it is made to stay in place, which I appreciate since having mattress covers or toppers randomly riding up under the sheets is such a hassle. I also really loved that it came out if the package with an actually pleasant smell, nothing overbearing or crazy , not a gross chemical or factory smell. It provides a great hotel-bed cloud like experience, so I'm excited for my daughter to try it out and see if it helps her back! Pros: -Has an actually decent odor right out of the box - usual for a factory -Easy to put on -Has a very deep pocket so it won't start slipping, peeling up, or moving around once it's on. - Feels plush Cons: - Left out for 24hrs and did not puff up as much as in the photos, HOWEVER , when individually fluffing each square I got the more desired puffiness as shown in the ad. My mattress is about 13 years old, and the built in topper on it is not very plush anymore. I got this topper to soften up my mattress, and to keep the memory foam away from my body, because it gets hot. The topper was compressed into a bag, and puffed right up after it was released. There was a very faint chemical smell that disappeared almost immediately, and it hasn't come back. The pockets on this topper are DEEP! The nice thing about that is that if your mattress is normal sized, then there is even more material under the mattress to hold everything in place. The entire bottom of the topper has elastic in it, not just on the corners like other mattress pads. The cover of the topper is cotton, with the filling and everything else being polyester. After putting it on my mattress I could see the difference. The topper probably added about 2 inches (5cm) of thickness. I like to sit up a bit and read/play on my tablet/tv before going to bed, and I noticed the difference right away upon sitting on it. It is very fluffy, but has virtually no firmness. I my case, this topper didn't overheat me, where my mattress by itself would. I have a waterproof pad on my mattress, and that might be what made me so hot - basically a plastic layer. It fills in the "dent" that I have pretty well. On top of feeling cooler, my joints don't hurt as much as they did. This topper does add a little plushness to an old mattress, but it is not significant. This is more a mattress "pad" instead of "topper". Granted, it is more comfortable than any pad I've ever used. After 3 weeks or so, the topper stayed in place, has not significantly compressed, and all of the stitching is still intact. It does make a difference, but it does not replace a blown out (built into the mattress) topper. Good sleeping! ... show more
