  • Powerful little heater!
Style: Portable Garage Heater
I have struggled with finding a good heat source for the mobile home I bought almost 2 years ago. I was going to buy a furnace to heat with, but the duct work isn't in great shape. I have been using 110 space heaters the last 2 winters, which made the power bill skyrocket and I still froze. This year, I did a lot of research, and decided to get a 220 garage heater to heat it with. While looking on Amazon, I came across this little orange beauty, and boy, I am glad I did. I can't believe how powerful this heater is! Yes, it is pretty loud, and the metal screen on the front rattles a little sometimes. I guarantee you won't find a better little heater for around $100 anywhere! ... show more

  • Powerful little heat source
Style: Portable Garage Heater
Need a heat source in garage for a winter project. This one is very effective and priced low. Had to wire a 240V but it seems powerful ones do need a 240v. Other than the extra work of wiring a 240v, the heater works great and it is as powerful as expected.

  • Report after running it for 1 day *Updated 10/16/2022*
Style: Portable Garage Heater
The good... >I live in Michigan, where it is 27 degrees outside today (16 degrees overnight) and this inexpensive 240v heater had no problem warming my 800 sq ft, well insulated attached garage, to 65 degrees in a few hours (something that 2 Edenpure Gen 3 heaters, running full tilt all day long could not do). It would have warmed it to a higher temperature if I let it, but 65 degrees is fine for working in the garage. (full disclosure... the furthest point away from the heater is 54 degrees but I'm sure that would increase if I let the heater run more and heat soak the concrete - again, I just got it and have only run it for a couple of hours - I also have not tested the safety features and had enough time to judge the temperature control). > I am also using an Adapter (short and heavier gauge wire than the heater cord) to use my 50 AMP welder wall socket. This is not recommended by the Manufacturer but with this heavy duty adapter, the cord and plug remain cool to the touch. The not so good... >The heater is fairly loud, which wouldn't be so bad if you were in an industrial environment. It's not to the point of being annoying... i.e. you can have a conversation without shouting. If you've ever had a large noisy window air conditioner, then you can get a feel for the noise volume of this unit. >The heater vibrates due to an unbalanced fan and this is causing mild rattling currently. I dinged the rating primarily for this, because vibration and rattling out of the box is just not acceptable. You can feel significant vibration when holding the handle of the heater. I'm sure that this is going to significantly lower the lifespan of the fan and that the rattling will increase over time, until the unit fails. I'll update this as I get more runtime on the unit. * UPDATE * After running the unit for several days, I can use the temp setting knob to keep my garage at 65 degrees, with the unit cycling periodically. This is so much better than trying (and failing) to heat my garage with two 115v heaters (3000 watts). I also stopped the rattling by installing a spacer at the bottom of the rear cage to prevent the cage from moving. An easy fix. Based on the performance so far, and the easy resolution to the rattle, I've upped the rating to 4 stars. ** Update 10/16/2022 ** I just initiated my 3rd season with this heater today and it started and ran with no issues. As mentioned in my last update, this heater does a great job of heating my 800sqft well insulated garage and I've figured out how to get the garage up to temp and then to keep it there with the unit cycling on and off by putting 2 marks on the fan unit above the heater control; 1 at a higher temp setting where the unit finally cycles off and the other at the lower temp range, where I then set the heater control to for keeping the garage at the desired temp the rest of the day. For me, that's about 67 degrees. Some observations from questions and reviews I've seen here: 1) There is no separate On / Off Switch - the Heater Thermostat Control contains an On / Off switch (like a portable radio volume control) where the off setting is at the lowest temp range (clicks when you arrive at the lowest range - when turning the knob all the way to the left) and when you turn the knob to the right, from the Off position, it will click again to turn the unit on, and then the thermostat takes over and the unit will run until the thermostat senses that it has reached the set temperature. 2) The thermostat does not provide a "temperature in degrees" setting, only a "+" for higher and "-" for lower legend. Thus, why I had to experiment until I found the positions on the thermostat control for an initial heating point and a cycling (hold temp) point. 3) The fan in the unit starts very slowly when operating the heater from a cold start. You will see it turning but will barely hear it. Over the next couple of minutes, the fan speed will continually ramp up until it reaches it's max rpm and then it will stay there. At this point the fan is fairly loud and moving air decently through the unit, although not enough to blow the hat off your head even at 2 feet from the heater. Some folks have mentioned that the fan speed on their unit never ramps up after initial startup or doesn't spin up at all. This means that the unit is defective and should not be used, because it is not meant to operated without the fan turning at full speed. This can cause an overheat condition that could start a fire. It is also possible they are not running the unit at the proper voltage or have the plug improperly wired. This is a toss away item folks... I've not seen parts for it, and if you can get 3 years out of it like me (well not quite yet), and it fails... time for another heater. Why has mine lasted? I can only guess... 1) I always make sure the temperature control is at the OFF position when I power up or down the unit. 2) I have a 1/4" plate under the front portion of the heater to tilt it up slightly and noticed this reduced the vibration mentioned above (mine is located on the garage floor). 3) I don't move the unit around. I found a clean / safe place for it and leave it there. ... show more

  • Check home voltage before buying this.
Style: Portable Garage Heater
I need to return this as the voltage requirement is not matching my house. We have in USA home only 110 voltage. This heating requirement is more than that. Please let me know how I can return this product and get reimbursement. Thank you. - Atia

  • Doesn't move much air.
Style: Portable Garage Heater
I was expecting it to blow more air. It puts out very warm air, but not much volume. It's compact and quiet, but takes all day to warm up my 2 car garage from 35 to 60. I haven't had a really cold day, but I don't think it'll keep up. Being 240V, I expected more from it.

  • Nice quality, quiet, affordable

Completely satisifed. The heat output is as expected for this amperage. The fan is quiet.

  • It has one setting
Style: Portable Garage Heater
This heater is great for heating my small two port garage workshop. However, there is really only one setting for the fan speed and heat. The variable speed dial on the front should really just be an on switch because the fan only operates at one speed. I do like how the Back, top, and sides do not radiate any heat. The heater is much safer than I expected in that regard ... show more
