Overall this appears to be a great dock ladder. It is much more substantial than I thought it would be. I like the fact that it is angled away from the dock so that it is easy to grab the rails and climb up without hitting your hands or toes on the dock. Since we are on salt water I don’t know how it will hold up. But, it is totally retractable and we love the fact that it collapses so you get the value of four steps without having to look at a four foot high ladder sticking up in the air when you pull it out of the water. That was the primary reason we did not purchase a galvanized ladder. My complaint is similar to what one other purchaser wrote. The packaging is terrible. The box came dented and once I opened it I found the assembly hardware had spilled out of its plastic bag. Fortunately all the screws were in the box. Also, IT SHIPPED WITHOUT INSTRUCTIONS! While it is easy to assemble I did have to take it apart because there are two set screws that lock the ladder to the bracket that attaches to the dock and I didn’t realize that until it was assembled and I noticed the ladder pulling away from the dock. So, if you also don’t get assembly instructions be aware of this first step that you must perform or you will be pulling the whole thing apart and reassembling it. ... show more

I weigh 225lbs and the ladder held up just fine. I installed it on my homemade pontoon boat. I was going to build a ladder myself but this unit is light weight, collapsible and I really like the shiny chrome. I don’t think I could’ve built something comparable myself if I calculated my time into the cost. I would 100% recommend this ladder for a pontoon boat. ... show more

    • Over a year on saltwater
Initially, it had some “rust appearance”. This wiped off. I have to do it every few months. It literally gets splashed with saltwater daily and after wiped down looks new after a year of use. My buddy next door bought another version and it’s already rusting, Veblen though it’s stainless. My guess is his is 306 or 304 stainless. This one is solid. Definitely recommend. ... show more

Lemme see....interesting diagrams on page above, and photos by owners.....the side on which the ladder clip rests varies, hence seems interchangeable (yeah, small R and L stickers are on the side bars, but from the point of view of the installer, or the ladder climber...whatever, don't sweat it). One needs to screw the side bars to the base before stabilizing the assembled product onto the dock, as otherwise one can't access the hex bolt bases). It will rest on the side of the dock fully assembled so you can screw that into the dock/deck, but it's likely prudent to put in 1 of the deck screws right away, before you take your hand/attention elsewhere so it won't get nudged off the dock/deck. ... show more

I used this as an above-ground pool ladder. Mounted to the deck, extends in the pool without touching the pool anywhere. I am a big guy and this is a very strong product. Love that the rungs retract and extend. Great to get ladder out of way, but easy to use. Strong, bright, and works fantastic. The only thing I did was buy 2 longer stainless steel lag screws for my mounting requirements. Got at big box store. Very happy with this. ... show more

This ladder is heavy duty stainless. Came packaged professionally with no damage. Delivery was a day early. Installed with no issues. Nice improvement to the boat. Looking forward to using it this summer 2024. 👍🏼👍🏼
