  • Fantastic Tent!
My wife and I escaped for a week in Estes Park, Colorado with the goal of backpacking to a campsite and spending an overnight in the wilderness. We hiked from the North Inlet/Grand Lake trailhead, on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park via Trail Ridge road. We followed the Tonahutu Creek trail to where it meets the Onahu trail and stayed at Onahu Creek campsite. Walking over 8 miles that day. In my pack was the Ayamaya Backpacking 2 person tent. I ended up packing the tent body and fly in its original bag inside my pack. Then I took the stakes and poles, both in their included bags, and packed those on the outer mesh pocket of my Osprey Atmos 65 pack. We reached camp around 2:30 pm after hiking since 9 am and set out the make camp. We started by putting up the tent which proved to be an easy, and quick task. I brought a blue 6x8 foot tarp to use as a footprint for under the tent as there is not one included. it fit perfectly for length but I plan to cut something from tyvek that would make a floor for the vestibules so that our packs could stay out of the dirt. It was warm when we arrived but reached upper 30's Fahrenheit overnight so the ability to roll back the rain fly was helpful. We could've gone without it to be honest but it was nice to feel a little more covered, so to speak, with it on. I'd say set up took us all of 10 minutes. That's accounting for both of us being a bit sluggish after having walked a fair distance. I really like this tent. We staked down the corners of the body of the tent. Then we opened the pole bag and assembled the 1 piece "skeleton" that gives this tent its structure. I'm telling you it just clicks in place. Super simple. Then after popping the poles into the 4 corners you click the clips from the tent body onto the poles and the 2 loops that attach to the cross member and within seconds you have a structure. The Rainfly drapes over the poles and is tied onto the poles at key points to keep it in place. There are 4 clips at the corners attached to tensioning straps that allow for a snug fit of the fly to the tent body. Then we guyed out the corners, which since we didn't encounter wind or rain that day would not have been needed. I just wanted to set it up fully in the field. I did set it up in the back yard prior and encountered light rain and stayed perfectly dry. I cannot, however, speak to a downpour as I've not experienced that in this tent. I'm going to go through and list my likes and then a few of the things I wish they'd rethink in the design of this tent. Overall I'm super happy with this tent in the just under $100 (at time of purchase) market! -Likes- - Very breathable mesh and well ventilated tent - Light enough at 5.7 pounds. I didn't find it oppressive. You could split it up between 2 hikers if needed. There are lighter options but probably not in this price range. - Set up is a breeze. The single pole design that clicks into place in seconds combined with the tent. - Vestibules are adequate. - We encountered quite a few mosquitos but not a 1 got into the tent thanks to the no-see-um mesh of the tent body. - Hi visibility guy lines were great for sight in low light -my wife and i were more than comfortable with the amount of room inside overnight. I'm 6 feet tall for reference. -Room for improvements- -The top vents are a nice touch but might need a change in the measurements to let them stay open. Ours are a touch flappy rather than taut as I'd like them to be for more adequate ventilation. - If I were any taller this tent would not be very comfortable. So keep that in mind. - I'd love it if they redesigned the vestibules to be a little bigger. My pack was snug between the tent body and the inside of the fly inside there. a little bit more room would be welcomed. - I'd really love for it to include a footprint for under the tent. To keep condensation away and provide a barrier from the dirt or other things that could puncture the tent floor. If it were designed to cover the vestibule that'd be even better - There's a hook for a lamp or headlight to attach at the peak. I'd love to see more of a mesh storage space up top like I see in other tents in this range. Maybe 2 pockets on each side instead of the 1 provided in the middle of the head end of the tent. - While it doesn't take much to tie the fly to the tent, I wonder if a velcro system might be possible. Just a wish really. Like I stated earlier. I'm super pleased with the overall design of this tent. For the money, you'd be hard pressed to find something else like it, in my opinion. I'm glad to have been able to take it along on this bucket list trip and it sure did fit the bill. Thanks, Ayamaya, for helping to make it possible! ... show more

super easy to put up and take down, also a nice storage bag that doesn’t take up a lot of space. my only problem is the condensation caused a bit of water leakage into the tent from the roof. it’s a good size too, fit a queen size bed pretty easy.

  • Easy set-up, not so easy fold-up.
Color: Green
This 4 person tent is so easy to setup, sturdy, and very roomy for two people and gear.... I think it's a little too small for 4 people unless they are petite. Great ventilation and easy access with entry and exit from either end. That said, my friend and I tried at least a dozen times prior to camping, and viewed several videos, to collapse and store tent back in it's bag. It wasn't easy and I began to wonder how I could return it if I couldn't get it back in it's bag. Eventually, we managed and took it camping and got it back in the bag on the second attempt. So, ... very nice, portable tent, but definitely study the how-to videos and practice folding it up before taking it to the woods! ... show more

Setting up - This thing was so easy to setup it did all the work for us on this aspect. I bought this for bonnaroo(a music festival) with my boyfriend. setting up the tent was his thing and he nailed it down as well which felt very secure but the both ends did pop up off the ground a little bit but that didn’t really make a difference or matter to us space- We fit a blow up full size mattress in it and some clothes etc I would say we could have fit a queen size in it but we wouldn’t have had any extra space by doing so. This is definitely not a luxurious tent and would not try to squeeze more than two people. Wind resistance- Great! Maybe too great. Even with all of the windows and doors on both sides heat was TRAPPED it was so hot in there it felt like you were suffocating and sitting in an oven. Keep in mind though this was in Tennessee heat in June so it would get up to around 100F. And at night we would be freezing so take that as you will keeping out bugs the screens were great at this one no bugs would come in unless you open the screens Water resistance you know i am not entirely sure on what to say about this one. The rain wouldn’t get in and i wouldn’t say any of our stuff was drenched. but it rained when we used it a little bit(no downpour) and we would seam up our tent well but all of our stuff including the bed would be very damp and we definitely got a little bit sick from having to sleep in the damp cold tent at night. packing up packing up was a little more difficult and we were afraid of breaking it when we had it to bend and fold it up. a few times we thought for sure we were going to break it. but we didn’t! its all about being gentle with it and finding the soft points in it. it maybe took 15 minutes? overall- I want to say better things about this. This would be good for a one night trip. maybe a weekend. I really wouldn’t use it for another week long trip like i took. maybe i would use it for an extended trip if it trapping humidity in it wasn't a problem. Maybe go for a tent slightly bigger so it has more ventilation. I really did enjoy how its a pop up though and I wish i could find some larger tents that were also pop ups! ... show more

  • Pros and cons
Color: Green
What we like: 1. Super easy and quick setup and folding back 2. Two doors. It gets hot inside quickly under the sun and the two doors can get quick air flow to cool down. 3. Skylight is a beautiful must have for stargazing! What needs to improve: 1. The fabric is not totally waterproof. More dense fabric is needed. It’s ok with some drizzling rain. But after an overnight rain, the inside starts to drip and the floor starts to get wet at all edges. 2. The window shades is hard to operate from inside. It’s better to have curtains inside and the screen outside. 3. No instructions on how to setup those medal rods. Overall a great product that’s good for dry and small rain conditions. ... show more
