As a welder and machinist, I can tell you these are very well made, excellent welding and electroplated finish. even the socket to use with a driver is well made. Other auger ground anchors that are powder coated will be very "sticky" to drive into the soil. The only con I see is that the edges of the hook where a rope would be secured is sharp and will eventually cut a rope, that can be fixed with a file. I'm using a steel carabiner so it doesn't affect me. ... show more

These are very well made. Full welds on both sides of the spirals. The swivel anchor is a plus. No need to remove a part to drive the stake into the ground. Comes with the socket, and even a small brush to clean after use. Oh, and a storage bag as well.

    • Strong Stakes Need Some Fine-Tuning
Color: E. 4 x 16" Ground Anchors
This is a review of Lifeswell's Heavy Duty Ground Anchors - 16", Chrome Finish with Full Welding (4-pack). These earth anchors are built sturdy. The full length of each earth anchor is 16" (tip-to-tip). The length of the spiraling is 4 1/2". The spiral extends out about 1/2" from the shaft. There is an adapter included which allows you to use an electric drill to screw the stake into and out of the ground. The stakes' actual gripping power will depend on the soil they're installed in. If the soil is too sandy-ish and the stake isn't drilled far enough into the earth, the stake may be susceptible to being pulled out. But, with firm soil and adequate depth, they should work just fine. NOTE: The metal loops at the top of the stakes have 90 degree angles that are way too abrasive for a rope running through it. If there's movement on a tightly strung rope for very long, the resulting abrasion could easily cause the rope to break. (I used a fine file and steel wool to smooth out the 90 degree edges to significantly reduce the abrasion.) I wish the manufacturer had done this because it does take a fair amount of time to do it. ... show more
