IT’S AMAZINGLY well constructed, durable, uses a thicker metal than some of the more expensive (and assembled) file cabinets on Amazon do—thus, its metal “doesn’t” dent or bend easily. The paint pigment is dense and surface finger prints wipe off with a damp cloth. The lubricated drawer rails slide easily, smoothly and quietly—with a catch that keeps the drawer faces perfectly flush. The non-tip feature is excellent and the locking mechanism keeps the drawers flush and tight—there’s no play, With the precision of its meticulously creased metal parts and overall construction design, the corresponding screw holes lineup flawlessly for fastening parts together. Because of this vital detail, part screw connection locations “miraculously” stiffens and permanently squares the entire file cabinet’s outer box shell—no out of kilter leaning. What’s more, due to the attention given its design, part details and overall manufacturing, the 1/8-inch gap around each drawer is always perfectly even and square. The picture only assembly instruction booklet is instantly easy to grasp and follow. The entire file cabinet goes together using only one screw size/type with extras in the bag. For convenience, it comes with a Philip’s screwdriver. HOWEVER (please note), it’s easier, quicker and offers better torque if you use a power drill with a fastener screw bit and extender—for a couple of tight inside corners. BE AWARE: If you rarely have (if ever) experienced the adventures and joys of assembling your own furniture with parts out of a box—TAKE YOUR TIME—or order a pizza and have a friend over to put it together for you [grin]. It takes 30-minutes for someone comfortable with the task. Though putting this file cabinet together is very intuitive and logical, it’s at a medium-plus level project—it’s not something silly from IKEA. There are a couple of YouTube videos showing how to assemble this model that you can watch, too. CUSTOMER SERVICE with this seller: For one, a drawer face (part “E”) was badly dented from the factory—I requested a replacement of this part and it was “immediately” sent out to me without a blink—AWESOME! I love the cabinet. It’s good quality, nice color, received super speedy but the lock mechanism had issues. It would lock and would not open. We had to literally remove and take out all the lock system.

I think they really understood the assignment on this product. For such a cheap price, the build quality is just enough that you feel the price is justified. That being said, I don't mean to to imply that the build quality is poor. I found no damage and things assembled exactly as the instructions said. I found the instructions clear, and the assembly reasonable. It's no IKEA though, and you end up doing things like bending the metal tabs by hand in the drawers, which are a soft metal and piercing holes with the machine forming screws. This felt like screwing into soft wood. Since everything is somewhat soft and just a touch flimsy, you do find yourself "flexing" some of the drawers to fit right, which, isn't surprising as you unfold the metal drawers to assembly them. This seems like a pretty creative solution to be honest. Overall, I will probably upgrade to something of higher quality but depending on the situation I'd by this again knowing what I'm getting into, especially if I needed a few of them but probably not for heavy use. It is better than the plastic box I was using. Some notes: - When installing the drawers into the cabinet, be sure to *unlock* the cabinet first. The instructions have you assemble the body of the cabinet in the locked position, which makes sense. This meant when I installed the drawer it wouldn't insert all the way. When installing the drawer into the cabinet, they comment that you have to push the drawer into the rails all the way and maybe use some force. This lead me to believe that the drawer not closing was caused by this and not the lock. Someone being to aggressive here could damage the drawer. - You may have to "flex" the drawers to get them to fit right. - Drawers are a bit shallow/There isn't much clearance for the file folders. If all the files are flat in their hangars it fits fine, but as some tend to be loaded more than others they rise up and touch the top of the cabinet. My previous filing cabinet was deep enough where this was never an issue. - Because the metal is so soft/flexible, even when locked you can bend the door open with your hands. If someone wanted to break into the cabinet I'm sure they could without any tools. ... show more
