Frequently asked questions

Yes, the 3M Littmann CORE Digital Stethoscope is equipped with a tunable diaphragm that can be used for both adult and pediatric auscultation. However, for infants or very small children, a stethoscope with a smaller chestpiece might be more appropriate.

The Littmann CORE Digital Stethoscope is powered by a rechargeable battery. It comes with a USB charging cable, and when fully charged, the device can operate for approximately 60 hours of active use.

The 3M Littmann CORE Digital Stethoscope does not natively integrate with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, but the sound files can be saved and manually added to patient records if necessary.

The digital amplification feature on the Littmann CORE enhances sound quality and is adjustable to various levels, allowing clinicians to hear heart, lung, and other body sounds more clearly, which is particularly useful in noisy environments or for patients with thick clothing.

  • Exceptional Stethoscope: Raises the Bar with Outstanding Quality and Performance
Color: Black Tube, Black Stem Style: Black-Finish Chestpiece
This Stethoscope Raises the Bar! Although it’s a bit pricey, I can confidently say that it sets a new standard for what a stethoscope should be. From the moment I picked it up, I could tell it was built with high-quality materials and craftsmanship. All I can say is wow! The sound quality is exceptional, making it easy to hear even the faintest heartbeats and lung sounds, which is crucial in my line of work. What’s even more impressive is how many people I've let try it out who also respond with a resounding wow. Many of them end up ordering one for themselves if they can afford it. While it’s not the cheapest option on the market, I genuinely believe it is worth every penny. The performance and durability you get are unparalleled compared to other stethoscopes. I also highly recommend purchasing the hard case that’s specifically designed for this stethoscope. It’s essential for protecting your investment, especially if you accidentally drop it while transporting it. Overall, this stethoscope combines quality, performance, and a touch of luxury, making it an invaluable tool for any healthcare professional. I couldn't be happier with my purchase ... show more

  • Excellent
Color: Black Tube, Black Stem Style: Black-Finish Chestpiece
I m very pleased with the stethoscope. I work in an internal medicine and geriatrics practice. I have used the the previous Littman electronic cuff but it no longer functions and I wanted a replacement. Additionally, it was electronic only. It did not function as an analogue cuff. I enjoy the Littman CORE device as it works in analogue OR amplified mode. One can switch back and forth instantly. I have been practicing for decades and I am familiar with non-amplified respiratory and cardiovascular findings. My entire auscultatory reference base is derived from using a conventional scope. With the CORE scope I can hear the native sound and compare it to the amplified sound. This gives me necessary context and I consider this to be a great advantage over a dedicated electronic scope. I am able to hear soft murmurs, and diastolic heart sounds more easily. It is easier to measure blood pressures. Again, the ability to go back and forth between analogue and augmentation modes is a singular advantage. Finally, the stethoscope offers typical Littman functionality. The acoustics are identical to other Littman analogue scopes I have used and the construction and comfort are comparable With respect to the phonocardiogram, I really don’t have a strong opinion. The app works well and I can easily create and view the tracings. Since I have never had access to this function, I am probably on the bottom of the learning curve. If I were in a teaching environment this utility may be of more benefit. It is interesting and I plan to do more with it before I can frame an opinion. Be advised that there is a subscription cost if you want to do perform more than the basic functions with this app. ... show more

  • This product works exceptionally well with bluetooth enabled hearing aides.
Color: Black Tube, Black Stem Style: Black-Finish Chestpiece
After spending a few hours on the internet I didn't think that I would be able to get a stethoscope that would connect wirelessly to my bluetooth enabled hearing aids. That however, is exactly what the Littmann Core Stethoscope does. In my medical experience (I am a doctor: MD) the Littman cardioscope has always been an excellent instrument. If you are not wearing hearing aids, this instrument amplifies the heart and lung sounds very effectively. That part is unchanged. However, and this is the big news, you can disconnect the headphones from the stethoscope, turn on the Eko app on your bluetooth enabled cell phone (I have an Iphone), select start and connect the CORE device, choose either full cardiac exam or spot check (I prefer the full cardiac exam) and not only do you get a tracing of the heart rhythm, but the heart tones are crystal clear and easily identifiable. I can easily identify my very soft murmur of mild aortic stenosis. One important caveat: be sure that your phone volume setting is about 3 quarters of full volume to full volume. This is the most effective way to get full amplification of the heart tones. I am auscultating heart tones more effectively now (with my hearing impairment) than I was able to do when I had no hearing loss! It's that good. One other point, because you're not tethered to a stethoscope, you can keep a safe distance from those possibly infected patients. I plan to carry the headpiece of the stethecope in my pocket and just use it as such, without the ear pieces. Someone had commented in one of the reviews that I read that said the sounds were "scratchy". I did not experience this problem to any significant degree. You always get a little "scratchiness" with any stethoscope, when you move to different positions on the chest wall. One request of the manufacturer: it would be great if you could manufacture a small cap to cover the opening of the head of the stethoscope (where it connects to the headset tubes) so it doesn't get clogged up in my coat pocket. For all of you hearing impaired medical practitioners, I hope this helps! ... show more
