I have a Cane Corso whose job it is to make a humongous mess around his water bowl. I looked around for a better solution and found numerous water fountains. They look interesting but who wants to fuss with electric contraptions just to give a dog water? They require filters, are harder to clean, etc. I also found water dishes similar to this one, but they were made of plastic and I was looking for something with more durability. I like that this water bowl does not require electricity so I can place it anywhere. I’m not limited to placing it near an outlet. It’s stainless steel and is dishwasher safe. The bowl is easy to clean and substantially cut down on the amount of water mess. It’s simple to use; fill with water and put the lid in place. The bowl also comes with a metal hook to help remove the lid for cleaning, but I don’t really use it as it’s fairly easy to remove the lid without it. The size is pretty good, although if they offered a larger version, this product would be perfect. ... show more

The metal makes it so that the dogs do not eat it, like the plastic ones. They can still tip it over at times, which is a pain, but I can't think of anyway to overcome that other than a suction cup and metal tray of some sort.

I got this for our outdoor cat. We tried one of the plastic gravity water bowls and it was fine, but it grew algae so fast and we just couldn't get it properly clean. This has been really helpful to avoid the algae growth and also keeping leaves and bugs out of his water. Also, stainless steel does rust. People get big mad about that, but stainless steel is rust-resistant. Because this is a water bowl, it will eventually rust. Huge bowl. I got 3 L size. I have a 6 month old Great Dane puppy that was getting water all over her food and water bowl stand between the two. I wasn't sure if she was doing it on purpose or not, but then when she did drink she would get her ears in it and stick her face in it and get water everywhere. This has helped a ton. She took to it very quick. No issues at all. When there is a choice between a bowl with this top and a regular bowl of water when she is around other dogs who dont use this bowl she will choose the bowl without the top. This is the best water bowl! I have two American bullies who are super messy and would get water all over the floor even with a mat. We were wrong when when we returned it!!! Using the Kactoily the first time around our one year old Australian Shepherd, border collie mix quit drinking water, with the Kactoily 3L/101oz Large Capacity Dog Water Bowl Stainless Steel; however we have reordered it for a couple reasons its stainless steel is easy to clean and there is no smell, putting it in the dishwasher on any shelf, it comes out bright and shiny clean and without any residue, didn't care for some of the plastic ones or silicon, that are out there, we tried a few different types. And that brought us back to reordering and giving the Kactoily 3L/101oz Large Capacity Dog Water Bowl Stainless Steel another try. The biggest reason is that our dog was still throwing up her food from gulping water before or after she ( Peaches )would eat. It's been 5 days and on the first day we noticed when we filled the bowl that the center floating reservoir was high in the water dish and then it left very little water in the reservoir which made it difficult for her to get water so looking at the Kactoily closer we realized that air gets trapped under the center floating reservoir and it needs to be tilted in order to let the air escape from underneath the floating Reservoir which left the floating Reservoir little lower in the water dish and allowed the reservoir to fill a little easier and allowed our one year old puppy to push the floating Reservoir down in order to drink so it's been 5 days now and it's working wonderfully she has quit throwing up is able to drink water before and after she eats without a problem so we do recommend this product immensely just make sure you tilt the floating reservoir to get the air out, in other words burp floating reservoir so your dog can get to the water.... ... show more
