  • Works well so far!
Hard to really review this accurately, as I got it in the middle of winter in Alaska so there's not a lot of sun; I plan to use it for summer camping trips, particularly since I use my cell phone as a camera and want to keep it powered up so I can also use it for emergency communication should I ever need to. I have been able to find a sun beam and I was able to confirm that it does charge my phone, albeit the charge seemed to be going fairly slowly. I'm not sure if that's because of the strength of the sunbeam or the limitations of this device. I'm not looking for rapid charging though, so as long as it can provide a little bit of power, which it does, it will work for my purposes. ... show more

  • Make sure all four panels are exposed to sunlight.
This solar charger (Image of Solar Charger) is a valuable tool for maintaining device functionality while off the grid, particularly during multi-day camping trips. Its compact design, featuring four foldable panels that snap closed to the size and thickness of an iPad, ensures easy portability and storage. The user interface is intuitive, requiring only three simple steps: unfold the panels, face them towards the sun, and connect your devices for charging. Two carabiners are included to facilitate hanging the charger from a rope, such as a tent guy wire, and a USB charging cable with three different connectors provides versatile compatibility. It is important to note that all four panels must be exposed to direct sunlight for optimal performance. If even a single panel is shaded, the charger's output will be significantly reduced. This highlights the importance of choosing a location with consistent sun exposure when utilizing the charger. In summary, this solar charger represents a reliable and user-friendly solution for keeping your devices powered during outdoor excursions. Its compact design, simple operation, and versatile charging options make it an ideal companion for off-the-grid adventures. However, meticulous attention to sunlight exposure across all four panels is crucial for maximizing its functionality. ... show more

  • Charging Any Time, Any Where! Five Stars!!!!!
I was looking forward to trying this 4-panel solar charger out before putting in my backpack. The panel folds up to a very compact size, and in direct sunlight it started producing electricity before I got it fully opened (there's a red LED next to the USB ports that shows it's ready to charge). The weight is a very good trade off between to light (and not able to charge my devices) and to heavy (making more power than I need for my iPhone, iPad and an a MagSafe battery). The description says "two Type-C port and one QC3.0 USB port. 2*Type-C port(5V/3A, 9V/2A,12V/1.5A Max), 1*QC3.0 USB( 5V/3A, 9V/2A,12V/1.5A Max),for quick and efficient charging of Tablet,Smartphones, GPS, USB fan, camera or other USB devices" and so far the panel has worked well with the latest iPad and an iPhone 15 Pro, the main devices I need it to charge. The included USB multi-cable didn't work with my iPhone 15 Pro. I tried a number of times, but the phone would not charge. I replaced the cable with a USB C cable I had, and the phone started charging immediately. There are two small carabiners that come with the panel, and they are perfect for securing the panel if you are using it on a bike or in a car (like after a long hike and you need to charge up several phones). The carabiners also are ideal for putting the panel on the side of your tent or attaching it someone at your camp site, or on your backpack as you hike. This really adds a lot of versatility to you can charge when you need to, either on the go or when you are in one spot. The panel seems to be made very well, which is important when we rely on it off the grid. It's also a great panel for leaving open in the car, to charge a MagSafe battery while at work or school. I am very impressed with the size and charging options, as well as the carabiners for securing the panel - FIVE STARS - this panel is definitely an important part of any kit for travel, hiking, backpacking, boating, or anytime you need to have a charge for a range of devices! ... show more

  • Solid Contstruction - Great for charging Phones and PowerBanks
This solar charger is great for charging your devices on the go. Keeping your phone and lights charged while on a multi-day camping trip in the back country is a breeze with this unit. It has 4 panels which fold up and Snap closed into something roughly the size and thickness of an iPad. It is very simple to use; just unfold it, point it at the sun, and plug in your devices to charge. It comes with 2 carabiners to hang this from a rope (like a tent guy wire). It also comes with a USB charging cable which has 3 different ends on it: * Micro USB * Lightning (iPhone) * USB C This allows you to use this one cable to charge a wide variety of devices. I used this to charge my iPhone without problem, but it did not have sufficient power to charge my iPad (which was a surprise, because 30W should be powerful enough to charge the iPad). I got around this by using the charger to charge up a power bank (battery) and then used the power bank to charge the iPad. (This was why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) As a matter of fact, my preferred method of charging is to use this device to charge up power banks during the day (when you are using your devices) and then use those power banks to charge my devices at night when sleeping. Pros: ===== * Easy to use * Sturdy construction * Built in voltage regulation to protect devices Cons: ==== * Can be difficult to get it to lay flat after being folded up. * Would not charge iPad ... show more

  • Goes well in a blackout in the day
This is great to have in emergency. We lost power in our area - happens a lot in this country - and we were outside talking to the neighbors and I was able to pop this out - put it on the porch and plug in my phone to keep things going. Works well in direct sunlight!
