No way this is 4" thick, but it is plenty thick, quilted, and the quilt pattern comes right up through your sheets! It makes a big difference on top of a mattress, softer, but not so soft that you're engulfed. Recommended, especially at this price. Also, it has plenty of material all the way around, so that it tucks all the way around your mattress and does not move around. I ordered a new hybrid mattress that was a little too firm. First I tried a 4 inch memory foam green tea pad and did not like how much it sunk in and made it hard getting in and out of bed. 100 bucks wasted. Thought I would try this topper although not as thick. It fits my 12 inch mattress perfectly and did the trick. Stays in place very well and so soft...very happy with it. I sleep well and no back or shoulder pain anyway! Great buy! It comes vacuum sealed but 30 minutes in the dryer on low heat and it fills out perfectly. ... show more

I would like to give this product 5 stars because I do indeed love it. It is so soft but it doesn't give or flatten like other fillers. I don't get stuck in it either. My arthritic shoulders and hips are grateful. It does not get hot like most (all) others that I've tried. It seems to be cool when I need it to be and warm when I need it to be. It's quite lovely to sleep on. Deep pocket, cotton sheets are what works for me. Here's why only 4 stars. For the price, this is very full once you let it fully expand. There was no odor and it expanded quickly. It holds its shape and springs back quickly although once every few weeks I give it a good shake. It stays on the mattress very well due to its elastic sides that fit nicely under the mattress. Honestly I was skeptical about this product because I've purchased mattress toppers in the past but this one is genuinely a thick topper! We bought my daughter a new mattress that was a tad too firm and we've been looking for a way to soften the bed, this one is amazing. The lining stretches all the way under the mattress so it doesn't slip/slide (even with a toddler jumping on it constantly), no smell, it looks clean and plush.
