We anchored it into the ground correctly, but a gust of wind lifted up one side and the rod snapped in half! Unfortunately it is now useless and we had to take it off the car! The hinges at the and of the awning arms are cast and rather weak. Had a gust (Not even a hard gust) of wind hit the awning as I was setting it up and blow one arm over the roof of the vehicle, bending the support bolt (Also a weak point) and ripping the hinge in half. I will be removing the bolt and replacing it with a grade 10 one, and drilling the rivets out of the awning swing out poles and replacing them with a solid piece of round stock, drilled to fit the upgraded bolt and act as the new hinge for opening. The fabric is great, taped seams, and overall good quality, but I highly recommend you upgrade the hinge and make or purchase better mounting brackets (Being a DIY guy with a decent shop helps in my case). Bang for the buck though, still totally worth the purchase for myself. ... show more

The awning is a very nice size. The case is the best thing about this awning, well built. The awning material itself is very lightweight and setting up in a breeze is difficult to impossible as it will catch the wind and blow over the vehicle, destroying the arms. The corner poles are very poor quality and jamb easily requiring gentle care in making work again, this unit REALLY should be shipped with at least one extra pole! Once fully setup and guy roped down it is effective, but the stakes provided for the guy ropes are worthless, throw them away and get some GOOD metal stakes. Folding the awning up takes some dexterity as well and is much easier accomplished with a helper. A helper makes setup MUCH easier too. I would really like to see some solid or screened panels as accessories for this awning such as all the other manufacturers offer, but for the selling price it is a pretty good deal. Note that if you mount this unit on the wrong side of your vehicle the awning will still function, but the bags zipper will be on the TOP instead of the bottom. Make sure you buy the right model for your application. ... show more

didn't come with directions, but not hard to figure out. the good: lightweight, easy to install and set up, the seams are taped adding water resistance. Material looks to be a treated nylon. Seams are also double stitched to add strength. Poles are decent twist lock type, easily replaceable if needed. the bad: bag zipper located on top rather than bottom of bag (you can't waterproof a zipper), no directions, poor quality control regarding the mounting holes on the brackets, they look like they were drilled by Helen Keller. Its a great awning just remember when you mount it on the passenger side of the truck that the zipper faces up so yes water will get in , but its no big deal once you open it up the awning dries fast . But if you mount it on the drivers side the zipper is at the bottom and water will not get in. Its nice that its universal for either side . It can be set up by one person but with two It goes really fast ... show more

I bought this 270 awning to use for camping out at the beach/mountains. The pivot point of the awning is where it’s the weakest. A 14mph wind gust was able to snap the “hinge” or where the pivot bolt goes through in half. Now my question is could I buy these parts off the seller in order to use fix my awning? (This is literally the second time I tried using it) ... show more
