Color: Silk Rainbow
I'm not sure if I simply got a bad batch of this filament or the rest of the reviews were made by people who never printed anything with the filament! I can't speak for other colors, but the "Shiny Silk Multicolor Rainbow" filament simply sucks! Here's why I make this claim: I purchased the rainbow filament at the request of a friend who wanted a vase printed in rainbow colors, and liked the "shiny silk" look of the example. I'll caveat what I'm about to put here with "I'm NOT new to 3d printing, and I own 2 Prusa Mk3 printers and an ANET printer, so I think I have a clue about what I'm doing." I sliced the requeted vase in Prusa Slicer 2 using high-quality 0.15 layer height and set the PLA filament temperature at the mid-point of the range listed on the spool; which typically gives pretty decent results with other filaments. I started printing and got great bed adhesion through the first 8-10 layers, so I let it continue. I went back a few hours later to check on the status and found about 40 layers printed fine, then without warning, no more filament being extruded. Hmmm... jam; I can fix this. Cleared the print head and restarted the print. This time, I get maybe 70 or 80 layers printed and it does the exact same thing: suddenly stops extruding. ok, maybe it's a bad slice, so I repeat it using the hottest end of the range listed on the spool. Exact same results. Ok, so lets try this on one of my other printers. Hmmm... surprisingly, exactly the same results! I took the exact same model and printed with some cheap 3DSolutech filament without re-slicing, and it printed perfectly. ok, so, next step: I throw the spool into my dry-box and turn the dehydrator settings up to full-blast for a day to make sure I have good, dry filament, then re-start the print using this filament again (mind you, this is after a few successful prints with other filaments). Guess what?!?! Exactly the same results as before! Summary: When the filament stopped extruding, it was NOT on a color change boundary in the filament; it was at seemingly random spots. The filament got stuck in both the Prusa printers bondtech gears (on both printers) causing worn spots in the filament (and not able to feed); the filament got stuck between the extruder gear and idler on the ANET and a large worn spot formed in the filament (and not able to feed). Printing the exact same sliced model with different filament worked fine. You be the judge, but beware of this filament! ... show more

  • Wow what a wonderful filament. Great color!!!!
Color: Silk Gold
Wow, what a wonderful filament. First buy from this company, and I’m now a customer for life. Prints came out absolutely gorgeous with only a slightly higher temp than expected. Used on an Ender 3, 205c at the nozzle and 55c on a glass bed. I had 0 issues with layer adhesion, and it’s a pretty strong filament. Was worried about brittleness, but nope. Good and strong. Can’t believe there aren’t more reviews of this stuff!! The free nozzle pokers and filament samples are also a great touch. ... show more

  • Well behaved filament with good color
Color: Silk Gold
First - folks have asked if there is metal (or even gold) mixed in the filament. No. (At $22 a roll, really?) It was very well sealed in a thick bag with all air removed. The bag is not reusable. They also included about 2-3 meter long samples of all of their "Silk" filaments and some nozzle cleaners. There is also an included card which requests you contact them directly if you have concerns. It is bright and shiny on the roll. It doesn't print quite as shiny as it is on the spool, but is is a nice gold color with a definite sheen. The sticker in the spool recommends it to be printed hot 200-220. I ran a temperature tower (with my cooling fan off) from 220 to 180 degrees. The color is consistent through the temperature range with the best bridging at around 200. I have printed a few objects now at 205C with no jams, excellent print quality, very good bed adhesion (Magigoo on glass at 65C) and consistent color. I have used CC3D brand silk filament and been happy with it. I was about to order the CC3D silk gold when I saw this brand I thought I would give it a try. I am pleased that I did. At $22 a spool this is a great deal. I have ordered several TTYT3D filaments now and am happy with them all. The latest that I have purchased is the Rose Gold. It is the same color you see in the pictures - perfectly well named. I just ordered a roll of the silk blue and I am certain I will be happy with it as well. I highly recommend this line of filament. As an aside - I am glad that they included the sample filaments. The "Bronze" is definitely a dark green. I think they are aiming for the color of verdigris on bronze and not the bronze itself. But the sample of silk blue is beautiful. I just ordered a spool. ... show more

  • Great PLA!
Color: Silk Gold
I was looking for a PLA that would give me a good "metallic" finish and I believe I've found it! I had been using Rust-Oleum's Metallic Gold to prime and paint my prints, but after using this PLA I don't have to do that anymore! This silk PLA catches the light nicely for a true metallic look. I'll definitely be trying their "Silver" next. Can't beat the price and the free gifts are a nice touch. I'm using an Ender 3 and ran the nozzle temp at 205 degrees, bed at 50. I use a mirror bed plate and glue sticks for great adhesion and had zero problems with this PLA sticking or layering. ... show more

  • Looks like Gold!
Color: Silk Gold
I did a lot of research on gold fillament and came across this one. It had some great reviews and so I decided to try it out. I printed three neckerchief slides with it for awards at our upcoming Blue and Gold Banquet. The first print I put the settings at 10% fill and didn't care for the results. It looked cheap. The next two prints I put the fill at 50% with a .15 mm layer height at 225 degrees. The results are amazing. There is a shimmer to it and it looks solid. This is a great project when trying to achieve a gold look without the need to paint. ... show more

  • Great print quality!
Color: Silk Shine Blue
Great print quality!! This filament lays down layers like butter. The only thing I was disappointed about was the true color of the blue. On the screen (phone and pc) the blue looks dark, almost close to navy but not. I was overly excited when I saw it because it's my favorite color and in person it's more like a powder blue or baby blue. Still very nice and still prints great but not true to color. Also thank you for including small samples of each color available, I had planned to buy black next but the sample seems like a charcoal black. Great product though! ... show more
