  • Solid tent for the price, made a few easy adjustments after first use for easier take down
Great tent for the price compared to other “name brand” options. Admittedly, I got this one so that I could do the amazon financing option over several months. Happy I did! Box arrived on schedule and was about 130lbs. Got it set up in about 2 hours by myself (would have probably taken about 1.5 if I had a second person). I put it on a Jeep Wrangler jku for off-roading camping purposes. Up for install- be sure to connect the support bars to the tent first- this was the hardest part of the instal IMO- then get the tent up on your rack and secure the tent cross bars to your rack. I didn’t use the instructions at first (because I was too impatient to wait for the seller to reply) and went back and forth with how to install a few too many (avoidable) times. Once I got it out camping- Took about 5 minutes to get it fully set up at camp. Biggest troubles were making sure the ladder locked properly to secure that side of the tent (the ladder acts a a weight-supporting leg) and had a few trial and errors to get the gold poles in place for the pop-out windows but easy enough once you get the hang of how they go in. Took it camping in Colorado in winter (got to about 15-20 degrees overnight) and it held up well with 3 adult women and a 15 lb dog all in 0 degree bags. Word to the wise- make sure you zipper up ALL door/window access, it will get drafty if you don’t. Foam was comfortable and didn’t need a sleeping pad. I didn’t end up leaving any blankets in the tent when packing up so I don’t know how many you can store in there while still being able to fold up easily when not in use. The size of the tent footprint was big enough to comfortable fit 3 women under 5’8” (and a small dog). Take down took about 20 minutes the first time- Had some trouble getting it closed up perfectly after first overnight use- had to have a friend sit on top so that we could get it back down compact enough to get the Velcro straps situated once the cover was on. Moving forward- I added two tow/ratchet straps to secure the tent more tightly when packing it up (before putting the cover on) and kept the Velcro straps to hold down the cover over the tent. I figure this will cut down the take down time to about 7-10 mins in the future. Although there were no instructions in the box, or The seller was quick to Provide a pdf version when I asked (I think it’s loaded in the q&a section if you need them). Trickiest part of the install was getting the tent bottom connected to the cross bars- much easier with two people. Overall, 5 stars so far! If you have trouble problem solving you may get a little frustrated at first but worth it once you figure out the best way to set up and take down efficiently. Can be done with one person but definitely easier with 2. ... show more

  • Very poor instructions
The included instructions are for a different tent, and are very abbreviated - consist mostly of don'ts. The instructions linked for download are better, but are for a slightly different tent model. The instructions show two t-shaped brackets to attach the ladder; the actual brackets included are L-shaped (the ladder attachment is at the end instead of in the middle). Apparently the holes in the tent were drilled for the t-brackets - they are too far apart for the L-brackets to work. Had to drill an extra set of holes. Also, the ladder instructions indicate that washers are present - there were none supplied. The instructions also indicate that there are tie-down ropes included - there are none, although stakes were included in the ladder box. Other people indicate they were able to do the initial setup in 2-3 hours alone. I worked alone for about 4 hours, then needed help to boost the tent to the top of my car. Due to the ladder mixup, I worked an additional four hours, and still haven't totally completed setup. The instructions indicate that the hold-down tracks need to be installed - fortunately, I found them already installed. The parts included allow for six attachment points (on three crossbars). The instructions only allow for four (which is fine, because my car only has two crossbars). ... show more

  • Very light. Did the job. Need some mods.
I've got a lot more expensive rtt just like this but canvas and wood. It's incredibly heavy. This seems sturdy and light. It looks to be durable. The airflow is incredible and the rainfly such a bonus. Mine came perfectly packaged. Set up was pretty easy considering they gave me instructions for another type tent. When I bought this there were no reviews. Then 3 days later 47. Go figure. Worth it. Update. As you can see in light rain I woke up to this. See picture. Thinking buying pex pipe and run it down the middle end to end for better drainage. If it's not enough I'll coat it with pool noodle or pipe insulation. Bought a 12v folding fan. I loop it over a cross bar for airflow. Inside needs some carabiners to hook stuff in the top like your light and glasses. I found an air mattress that fits this perfect with 1 for at the end for my solar gen power bank . ... show more

  • Tent is horrible
So we got this tent because we saw the reviews and I also saw one YouTube video and was instantly excited to have an affordable RTT. The tent is not bad itself the material is nice. The mattress is very thin but if you get a foam pad it’s fine. But the rest of it is an absolute nightmare. This tent is a nightmare! The main hinge bolt that is used to fold the tent falls off when you unfold to set up every time. The bolt doesn’t not meet the nylock nut to secure the bold in,( realized this when it fell out at the camp ground) we did a trial run in the driveway at home and everything seems good but once you get going absolutely a nightmare. Sleeping in it one night,( I’m 5’4 125lbs and my partner is 6’2 175lbs) and in the morning the bottom of the tent was bowed in. The frame is bent! The drive is awful when you get to 70mph whistles VERY LOUDLY! ( you can get a wind cover for the front so it’s fixable) but it is extremely loud. The cover has a rip in it where the straps buckle across the black top just from driving 300miles and the top strap broke off on the one side so we had to tie it back to get us back home. Tent looks beautiful when setup but there are some very big problems. ... show more
