I was trying to connect a soundbar to my TV, which has only optical audio out. And the soundbar has only aux or RCA in. I tried this DAC a few times in a few different ways and couldn’t get success. I’ve never worked with optical audio before, so maybe I’m doing something wrong, but everything generally seemed to be in place and I think I had the TV settings correct, based on the manual. The DAC lit and was powered. I tried running aux from the DAC to the sound bar, and then I tried running RCA out to aux in on the sound bar. What I didn’t try was aux-to-aux or RCA-to-RCA cables because I just didn’t have them handy at the moment. But if I can get them to work in the future I can update this review. I also wish this came with a longer DC-to-USB cable. The one that’s in the box seemed a bit short for me. Better yet, maybe power this with a USB-C port on the DAC itself? That way we can use any length cable we have around. ... show more

With all of the short-sighted decisions being made by TV makers these days, TV purchasers are forced to adapt -- Literally. If you are stuck with a "smart" TV which has zero analog inputs or outputs, "adapting" can be a way of life. This device promised to take a digital audio signal from one of those not-so "smart" TVs and convert it to something more universal: Plain, old, analog audio output to standard Left and Right Channel RCA jacks and an 1/8" headphone jack. It arrived on time and in good condition. And, included a SPDIF and a USB-A to coaxial DC power cable. When connected to a USB power source, it powered up and performed as expected. ... show more
